High School Football: Saturday, November 9, 2002 By Vincent Lewis Isaac Redman has been running over opponents all season causing defensive coordinators headaches in finding ways of slowing him and the rest of the Paulsboro (8-0) offense down. For one half, Lindenwold seemed to find an answer by scoring points of their own. The second half was a different story as Paulsboro ran away with a 39-13 Colonial Conference Patriot Division win. Redman rushed for three second half touchdowns in this game. |
High School Football: Friday, November 8, 2002 By Vincent Lewis The Burlington/Olympic Conference matchup between the Washington Township Minutemen traveling to Lenape to take on the Indians was as close as a game could get. Literally the game was decided by inches to determine the one point winner in this American Division football game. A two-point conversion and a missed extra point attempt highlighted this game, as Township would be the team posting a 14-13 victory one the road. Dan Holmes' controversial reception ruled good by the official to push the Minutemen on top of their division. |

High School Soccer: Friday, November 8, 2002 By Jerome MichaelsSJSports Special Correspondent Goalkeeper Ryan Jepson for Oakcrest was a busy person in the second round of the boy's South Jersey Group 3 soccer tournament. The Timber Creek offense looked as if they were on a man advantage as they were able to launch shot after shot within the final two minutes of regulation and most of the overtime period in this game. All of their efforts would come up short as Oakcrest's Chi Okpala got past the Timber Creek's defense and scored the winning goal with 32 seconds remaining in overtime. With the win, the Falcons move on to face Williamstown in the next round. |

Event Spotlight: Wednesday, November 6, 2002 By Mike Williams PHILADELPHIA - The Phantoms were like that groggy, sluggish kid with the dazed look from high school in the first few minutes of Wednesday morning's game. The remainder of the game for the hosts was much different, however. The Phantoms played the role of the bright-eyed and eager honors student perfectly. The result was a 7-2 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on School Day at the First Union Spectrum. Mark Greig's power play goal late in the second period helped the Phantoms to a 3-1 lead, and they never looked back. |
High School Field Hockey: Tuesday, November 5, 2002 By Susan Hall All it took was one goal to be the team to advance to the next round of the playoffs. The other team would have to hang up their cleats and sticks and call it a season. Neither team wanted their season to end as both the West Deptford Lady Eagles hosting the Gateway Lady Gators in the first round of the South Jersey Group 2 field hockey playoffs played hard to move on. Brittany Stewart's shot went into the cage giving the Eagles the win against a Gateway team who worked hard to send this competitive match into overtime. |
