Paul VI fought back from a 3-0 deficit scoring three goals in the last two minutes of the second period and went on to defeat Timber Creek 5-3 in Tier 2 action played in Voorhees. Jim Mayfield scored both goals in the first period. The first converting a rebound of a shot by Ray Zola, and then with his team down a man, he walked in from the corner and his quick shot found the net. After one period Timber Creek led 2-0. Zola made it 3-0 with just over three minutes left in the second period maneuvering through the defense and ripped a shot just under the crossbar. With time winding down, Paul VI finally broke through on a 3-on-1 and Mike DeGennaro on a nice feed from Brett Balco, cut the lead to 3-1.
Less than a minute later Paul IV crowded the net and after a few whacks, Christopher Sutherland was able to slide the puck across the line to make it 3-2. Richard Ferro got the equalizer with forty-one seconds left and now the momentum had clearly switched sides. Goals by Balco and Allen Abrams in the third period capped the rally and Paul VI skated away with the 5-3 victory.
