The coaching staff kept a watchful eye on their girl's soccer team encouraging them to play smart and limit their mistakes. Seeded as the underdog, Shawnee traveled to Cherry Hill West to begin the first round of the South Jersey Group IV soccer playoffs. The Renegades used an early lead to settle themselves and play pressure the ball soccer to get past West and their supporting fans. The 13th seeded Shawnee advanced to the next round with their 3-1 victory and will yet again travel to the 5th seeded Lady Braves from Absegami High School.
After not even making the playoffs last year, Cherry Hill West were the favorites in this game as they had earned the 4th seed in this year's bracket. Shawnee was the team last year sitting in the 4th seed earning a first round bye then defeating Washington Township but losing to Lenape in the semi-finals. Through experience, Shawnee saw things differently as they kept the pressure on the Lady Cougars using the field to their advantage setting up good scoring opportunities.
It was all Shawnee in the first half as Jamie Farewell scored the first goal of the game. Emily Krankowski was all over the field in the first half as she earned not only the assist, but also set up the next two goals as well. Christin Johnson netted the next goal and Shawnee would take to 2-0 lead at the half. Cherry Hill West would give the home crowd something to cheer about as Kelly Boswell cut the Renegades lead in half midway through the second half. Shawnee would respond by scoring their third goal of the game when Rachel Boles' shot bounced off of a defender and into the net.
