Goalkeeper Ryan Jepson for Oakcrest was a busy person in the second round of the boy's South Jersey Group 3 soccer tournament. The Timber Creek offense looked as if they were on a man advantage as they were able to launch shot after shot within the final two minutes of regulation and most of the overtime period in this game. All of their efforts would come up short as Oakcrest's Chi Okpala got past the Timber Creek's defense and scored the winning goal with 32 seconds remaining in overtime. With the win, the Falcons move on to face Williamstown in the next round.
With a first round bye, the Chargers were hosting the 5th seeded Falcons from Oakcrest High School. Oakcrest advanced to the second round by defeating the 12th seeded Spartans from Deptford by the score of 2-0. The scoring, in this game, got started in the first half when Oakcrest's Rodney Guishard, assisted by Pat McGuckin, got the first goal of the game with 6:23 remaining in the half. Timber Creek's Chris Ferrell set up Jesse Urquhart's game tying goal with just 2:18 remaining in the half.
The end of this game watched a determined Chargers team looking for a way to get that decisive goal to extend their soccer season. Keeper Jepson would watch several shots go to the left, right and above him but not into the net during regulation and in overtime. Andre Amorso got a shot past a leaping Jepson but the ball nailed the crossbar and back into play. With time ticking away, Timber Creek had their full squad up in the box trying to score before this game would be decided on penalty kicks. All it took was one play which Oakcrest took control of the ball and quickly move the ball up field. That's when Okpala made good on his shot to send the Oakcrest team and their fans on the field in celebration of their victory.
