By Boog Williams
The bad weather postponed the Saturday opening game of the girl's softball league until Sunday at 12:30 pm. It didn't look like the game was going to be played, based on the way the weather was in the morning, but the sun came out and the kids had a lot of fun. The field was dry and in good shape, thanks to the coaches and parents that helped rake the field.

Pennsauken traveled to Edgewood on the 13th for an Olympic Conference baseball game. With the cold breeze blowing in from left, you knew that no balls were going to be hit out of the park. If you never played at Edgewood, the wind blows across the open field a lot, and when it is cold, you feel it.

On what was to be a day of rain by the weather forecasters ended up being a so-so day for golf. With cloudy skies, dampness in the air, and a strong breeze, the Edgewood Eagles faced off against the Cherry Hill West Lions at Pinelands Golf Course. The Eagles were missing two of their top golfers, but the other players that did show went out and played a great round of golf, giving first year head coach Mr. Felton Jones his first win. It was also Edgewood's first win of the year.

With the coming of the 20th century, the bitter battle between the major leagues, American and National, was finally settled, and baseball, once again, could get down to the business of trying to win the hearts of America's young and old alike. And they did just that, as the infant American League expanded major league baseball to numerous new cities, and attendance plus fan interest reached all time highs.
