By Art Redd
The Burn Center Volunteers of South Jersey were holding their 22nd Annual Volleyball Marathon at Kilmer Elementary School in Cherry Hill. For the past twenty-one years, nearly 200 teams have participated in this marathon and this year would not be any different. Each team who participated in the Jo Hires 48 Hour Volleyball Marathon would make a donation to reserve playing time on the volleyball court and keep the ball in play for two consecutive days. The marathon started at 7:00 AM on Saturday and continued non-stop until 7:00 PM Sunday evening.

Cherry Hill East went to Moorestown and took control right at the beginning of the game for a 56-46 victory. Coach Valore's one-three-one defense ran to perfection to jump out to a 10 point first quarter lead. The Cougars created turnovers and pulled ahead with mostly 3 pointers to give them a lead they never relinquished. Cherry Hill East improved their record to 13-9 while Moorestown dropped to 13-8. Both teams were already selected to participate in the state playoffs.

High School Ice Hockey: Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998
By Rick Murro After a furious, physical but scoreless 1st period the Washington Township JVB Ice Hockey Club went on to defeat the Shawnee Renegades by a score of 4 to 1, capturing 1st place in the SJHSIHL JVB Division.
Township goals were scored by #65 Eric Marano at 10:28 of the 2nd period, assisted by #9 captain Scott Singer. #35 Mike Mazzuca scored Township's 2nd goal of the period with the assist coming again from #9 Scott Singer. During this fast paced penalty filled period 2 goals were disallowed due to a too many men on the ice delayed call and a questionable crease violation.
