High School Baseball: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It's a very interesting fact that was noticed when teams from the South Jersey Group 1 bracket compete for the title. For the past three seasons, the number one seeded team has been able to maintain the top seed and be claimed as the area's group winner. This year, the Lions from Gloucester have had the privilege of hosting every game as the number one seed and that continued with the hosting of the fourth seeded Warriors from New Egypt. Gloucester used a five run fifth inning to move into the finals with a 6-1 victory. The Lions will be looking to win the title as they will try again to defeat Pennsville for the second season in a row. |
High School Baseball: Monday, May 24, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It's never any fun losing a game, especially in the South Jersey group playoffs when your expectations are so high. For both Cinnaminson and Camden Catholic baseball their season was not quite over. This would be Cinnaminson's last regular season scheduled game and they ended it on a winning note. The Pirates found themselves down three runs early in the first inning but rallied to defeat Camden Catholic. Pitcher Will O'Connor settled down and kept the Irish off the scoreboard with help from his defense. Cinnaminson won the game by a 5-3 margin. |
South Jersey Baseball: Monday, May 24, 2004 By Chuck Betson Jeff Farnsworth went 7 and a third innings Sunday afternoon at Campbell's Field against the Camden Riversharks. He allowed just two runs, one earned, and walked none to raise his record to 2-0. Damon Ponce Deleon finished the eighth for Farnsworth by striking out the two batters he faced and Conor Brooks struck out three in the ninth to collect his second save of the season. Sunday's victory was the final game of a three-game series in Camden and raised the Surf record to 7-7. |
South Jersey Baseball: Monday, May 24, 2004 By Dan Loney The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, and the Eastern League announced today that Trenton Thunder first baseman Aaron Rifkin has been named the Eastern League's Player of the Week for the week ending May 23rd. Rifkin had an excellent week for the Thunder, hitting .462 (12-for-26) with two doubles and three home runs. The 25-year old accounted for almost half of the 49 runs the Thunder scored last week, driving in 13 runs and scoring seven times. |
South Jersey Baseball: Sunday, May 23, 2004 By Chuck Betson Andy High fell victim to two timely home runs tonight as the Riversharks beat the Surf 7-1 at Campbell's Field in Camden. High was cruising until the third inning when a one-out walk set the stage for Quincy Foster's first home run of the year. In the fifth Kevin Jordan hit a two-out, three-run homer that just stayed fair as it hugged the left-field line. That would prove enough as Evan Thomas would go seven innings for Camden, yielding just one run on Chad Alexander's sixth-inning single. He drove in "Meatball" Heath who had singled and stolen second. The loss drops the Surf record to 6-7. |
South Jersey Baseball: Saturday, May 22, 2004 By Chuck Betson The Camden Riversharks broke open a close game with a four-run sixth inning and went on to defeat the Surf 7-3 Friday night in Atlantic City's first road game of the year. Rivershark centerfielder Dwight Maness drew a leadoff walk to start the sixth. That was followed by singles from Ryan Jones, Brad Strauss and Travis Anderson. With the score 4-0 already, Troy Cameron capped the inning with his third homer of the season. The Surf rallied for three runs in the eighth highlighted by a two-run Raul Marval double. They brought the tying run to the plate, but that would be as close as they got. |
High School Baseball: Friday, May 21, 2004 By Jason Brown The sound of a baseball being hit by an aluminum bat was a familiar noise at Cinnaminson. The top seeded Pirates were hosting eighth seeded Audubon in a South Jersey Group 2 quarterfinal matchup. For the Green Wave, it was their second game of the bracket as they had earned the right to play the number one team with their win over Glassboro. Audubon did not wanted to be eliminated as they kept pace and outscored the Pirates to move onto the next round. Mike Slattery not only picked up the win for Audubon, but he also had four hits to highlight the Green Waves' 17-12 victory. |
High School Baseball: Friday, May 21, 2004 By Jerome Michaels When you take a look up and down the lineup on Shawnee's baseball team, you will find out that every player has contributed in the Renegades record growing now to 23-3. Of course Sean Doolittle's name can be found in an article or print almost every time the Renegades complete a baseball game, but Doolittle knows that its nine players that make a team and each player has contributed to their success. Andy Bella had the hot bat today belting two home runs to ignited Shawnee to a 7-3 win against Toms River South. With the win, the Renegades advance to the semifinals in the South Jersey Group 4 bracket. |
High School Baseball: Friday, May 21, 2004 By Vincent Lewis No team can really predict an outcome of a game based on their regular season statistics or standings. With the start of a new season called the playoffs, players find a new level of excitement of playing in the game and executing the fundamentals of baseball in order to move onto the next round. In a first round South Jersey Group 1 match-up, Gloucester City was the patient team taking advantage of the scoring chances Lindenwold provided. The Lions from Gloucester posted a 7-0 victory with pitchers Andrew Meyers and Gary Bobo combining for the one hit shutout. |
High School Baseball: Thursday, May 20, 2004 By Jerome Michaels There's something special about playing baseball at West Deptford for both the fans and players. The excellent facility gives all a perfect view of the field. For the players on the field, they also have their site set on is it possible to if your well hit ball can clear the fence. When the fifth seeded Bulldogs from Haddonfield watched West Deptford's Matt Sanders' solo homerun send this game into extra innings, they would respond with two round trippers in the top of the eight to finally end this South Jersey Group 2 competition. Haddonfield advance to the semifinals and earn the rights to play Audubon after defeating the Eagles by a 6-3 score. |
South Jersey Baseball: Thursday, May 20, 2004 By Dan Loney The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that Baseball Hall of Famers Whitey Ford and Rollie Fingers, will be making appearances at Waterfront Park this season. Benard's Atlantic League contract was purchased by the Toronto Blue Jays and he will report to the Blue Jays triple-A affiliate, the Syracuse Skychiefs, immediately. Benard, who played for the San Francisco Giants for six seasons from 1997-2003, hit .361 with six RBI in nine games for the Surf. Benard also was solid defensively for Atlantic City and carried himself well in the clubhouse. |
High School Baseball: Monday, May 17, 2004 By Jerome Michaels The first round of the South Jersey Group 4 playoffs began with Cherokee hosting the ninth seeded Vikings from Eastern. Every pitch counted in this game as each team looked to find a way to gain the edge that would keep them alive in the playoffs. Cherokee, seeded eighth, watched a three run lead dissipate quickly to just one run during the top of the seventh inning. Cherokee would hold on for a 4-3 victory and now face the top seeded Toms River East in the next round. |
South Jersey Baseball: Saturday, May 15, 2004 By Chuck Betson The Atlantic City Surf (4-4) loss for the second straight day to the Bridgeport Bluefish (3-5) on Saturday afternoon at The Sandcastle, 9-2. The Bluefish, already up 2-0, put the game out of reach with a seven run seventh inning in which they sent ten men the plate. |
High School Baseball: Friday, May 14, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It was one of those games that no lead seemed to be safe. Both teams sent a total of twenty-six crossing the plate that indicated the offense was clicking on all cylinders. Trying to do all that he could, pitcher Calvin Lewis survived Penns Grove 17-9 win over Wildwood with not just his pitching arm. Lewis stepped up at the plate during the bottom of the fifth inning and delivered a grand slam to push the Red Devils ahead for good. |
South Jersey Baseball: Thursday, May 13, 2004 By Dan Loney The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, kicked off a new contest, called “The Intern” at Wednesday night’s Thunder doubleheader at Waterfront Park. Surf pitchers allowed only five hits and two walks while striking out seven. The Surf pitching staff has allowed only two free passes in the past two games. |
High School Baseball: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It must have been a good day when you stepped up at the plate five times and delivered a base hit each and every time. Pitcher, yes, pitcher Andy Console missed the cycle batting at the plate, but he did pick up the 9-6 win for Haddonfield. The Bulldogs would score three runs during their top half of the eighth inning to defeat Audubon by a 9-6 margin in a Colonial Conference competition. |
South Jersey Baseball: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 By Chuck Betson The Atlantic City Surf (3-2) defeated the Road Warriors Wednesday night 5-4 at The Sandcastle. The Surf broke the 1-1 tie with a four run bottom of the eighth. However, the Warriors would not go quietly. Last season, Moore was 1-0, 4.29 ERA in 16 games for Tampa and the Gulf Coast Yankees. |
High School Baseball: Tuesday, May 11, 2004 By Jason Brown The pairings for the upcoming area group playoffs have been decided and Holy Cross looks to have a clear path to finish their season undefeated. Of course the remainder of their regular season scheduled games still has to be played, but the well balance staff should have a winning feeling attitude to settle for nothing less than continuing to play smart baseball...the rest will come later. Cinnaminson was the Lancers next big test to see if they could defeat the top team from the Patriot Division. Holy Cross took advantage of the opportunities presented to them that allowed the Lancers to pick up their sixteenth win in a row. Holy Cross won the game by a 4-0 margin. |
South Jersey Baseball: Tuesday, May 11, 2004 By Chuck Betson The Atlantic City Surf (2-2) battled their way to an 8-4 victory over the Pennsylvania Road Warriors (0-5) Tuesday night at The Sandcastle. The Surf scored two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to come from behind for the victory. High School Baseball: Monday, May 10, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It's the reason why there's seven innings to a game, and that reason was quite evident Monday afternoon at Woodbury. In a Colonial Conference baseball game, the Gators from Gateway traveled to compete against the Thundering Herd. Having one of those seasons that they would like to play over, Woodbury provided those who were in attendance with a never-say-die play to the last at bat win. Needing two runs to send this game into overtime was never in the minds of the runners on base when Dirk Ranck delivered the hit that gave Woodbury the 6-5 victory. |
College Baseball: Monday, May 10, 2004 By Mike Ballard The Scarlet Raptors closed their season May 4 with a 9-5 home loss against Delaware Valley College as the Aggies rallied from a 5-1 deficit, aided by a solo home run in the fourth inning from senior first baseman Mark Roth and a three-run shot in the seventh by junior left fielder Brandon McCabe. South Jersey Baseball: Sunday, May 9, 2004 By Denny Watson The Nashua Pride defeated the Atlantic City Surf 9-1 on Sunday afternoon at The Sandcastle. It was the final game of the three game series, which Nashua took 2-1. Nashua centerfielder Curtis Pride remained hot as Nashua pounded out 17 hits. Pride went 3-5, collecting his two RBI with a two-run homerun in the seventh inning, he also scored three runs. Pride first baseman Kevin Haverbusch continued to hurt the Surf with his bat. The Surf had the lead 10-9 heading into the top of ninth. However, two runs by Nashua erased the Surf lead and gave the advantage back to the Pride. Leading the attack for the Pride was Glen Murray and Curtis Pride. Murray was 3 for 4 with a home run and 6 RBI. Pride was just as impressive at the plate going a perfect 5 for 5 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Gary Johnson was the top hitter for the Surf, he collected 4 hits and 3 RBI. |
South Jersey Baseball: Wednesday, May 5, 2004 By Chuck Betson The news that the Philadelphia Phillies called up Jim Crowell from the team’s Triple-A affiliate in Wilkes Barre-Scranton was a big hit in the offices of the Atlantic City Surf on Wednesday, two days before opening day for the Atlantic City Surf. |
High School Baseball: Tuesday, May 4, 2004 By Jerome Michaels With the cutoff to make the playoffs approaching face, there are those teams playing with urgency and then there are those who just play. Eastern, already with a record to make the post season, did not panic when their early three run lead disappeared quickly. The Quakers from Moorestown had successful hit their way past Eastern and looked to have had the early lead. But a consistent offense from the Vikings allowed them to score in every inning but one to post a 9-6 win. |
College Baseball: Monday, May 3, 2004 By Mike Ballard An 0-5 week eliminated the Scarlet Raptors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoff chase and spoiled any chances of defending their ECAC Metro championship. Rutgers-Camden was whitewashed by Catholic University, 4-0, April 27, then lost four straight NJAC games against Rutgers-Newark (5-1, April 29 at home), Rowan (5-4, April 30 in Glassboro) and a doubleheader at Kean (3-1 and 8-5, May 1). |
South Jersey Baseball: Sunday, May 2, 2004 By Dan Loney Akron notched a six-run 1st inning en route to a 16-2 win over the Thunder on Sunday afternoon. The Aeros and the Thunder split the four-game weekend series. Akron (12-10) jumped on Thunder starter Javier Ortiz for the six runs in which all scored after two outs. 1B Nate Grindell started the scoring with a two-run single. 2B Rodney Choy Foo added a two-run triple to make it 4-0. C Victor Valencia and RF Nen Francisco also plated runs to cap the inning. Ortiz (1-1) left the game after one inning due to a strained hamstring. |
South Jersey Baseball: Saturday, May 1, 2004 By Dan Loney The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today that INF Andy Phillips has been transferred from Trenton to Columbus (AAA) of the International League and that RHP Ramon Ramirez has been transferred from Columbus to Trenton. |
High School Baseball: Friday, April 30, 2004 By Vincent Lewis Plain and simple, in order for a team to come away with a solid victory there has to be good pitching and error free defense. Okay, sometimes that doesn’t always happen as on several occasion, a batter or batters will have a good day at the plate. Take for instance the Colonial Conference game between Sterling and Audubon. Homeruns, triples, doubles and a total of 22 runners crossing the plate made a bad day for the pitchers on the mound. After the dust had cleared, Sterling's late inning rally allowed them to pick up the 14-8 road victory. |
South Jersey Baseball: Thursday, April 29, 2004 By Dan Loney Jaosn Grove and Kevin Reese delivered with run scoring hits in the 7th Inning to help the Trenton Thunder to a 3-2 win over Akron in Eastern League play on Thursday. Trailing 2-1, Grive hit a solo home run, his 3rd of the year, off Akron reliever Jake Robbins to tie the game. Reese added an RBI double later in the inning scoring J.T. Stotts, who had walked, for the game-winner. Trenton (11-6) managed just six hits in the game, but had enough to win their third straight contest and maintain their hold on 1st Place in the Northern Division. |
South Jersey Baseball: Wednesday, April 28, 2004 By Amy Dalrymple The Atlantic City Surf announces two new additions for the 2004 season's staff. Mike Wolverton will be the play-by-play announcer and Mike DiDomenico will be the color commentator for all Surf games broadcasted on 1490AM The Game this season. |
High School Baseball: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 By Jerome Michaels High school competition in our area has a few twists that provide some interesting match ups when looking at a regular scheduled game. For instance two schools from the same township but in two different conferences. A rivalry that seems easy to become very familiar with, but not always played every season on the ball field. For West Deptford and Deptford, it was a treat for these two neighboring school to compete against one another and even a bigger treat for the Spartans who were the ones coming away with the 6-1 victory. Ryan Sullivan picked up the win for Deptford. |
South Jersey Baseball: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 By Dan Loney The Eastern League of Professional Baseball announced their weekly honors for Player and Pitcher of the Week. The game marked the first collegiate game to be played in Citizen's Bank Park the new home of the Philadelphia Phillies. USP had advanced to the game with a 6-5 win over Philadelphia University last Thursday. |
College Baseball: Monday, April 26, 2004 By Mike Ballard The Scarlet Raptors collected victories to open and close the week, but sandwiched three straight losses between them. They closed the week April 24 by splitting a doubleheader at New Jersey City University, losing the opener, 6-2, and winning the nightcap, 7-1. Junior pitchers Matt Novella (Lindenwold, NJ/Overbrook) and Paul DeMarco (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) combined on a five-hitter as the Raptors defeated New Jersey City University, 7-1, to earn a split of their New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader. |
High School Baseball: Friday, April 23, 2004 By Vincent Lewis Rivalries always add something special to a season especially when you participate in a game with your neighboring school. Relationships have been formed outside of the sport and friendly competition exists on the field. For Northern Burlington and Burlington Township, it would be yet another Burlington County Liberty division game this time held at the Falcon's home field. But it would be the Greyhounds who made themselves right at home breaking a two all tie in the sixth inning to defeat Township by a 7-5 margin. |
South Jersey Baseball: Friday, April 23, 2004 By Dan Loney The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today that Sonny Pittaro, head coach of the Rider University baseball team, will be inducted into the Trenton Baseball Hall of Fame in a ceremony prior to June 7th's 7:05 p.m. game against Portland. |
High School Baseball: Thursday, April 22, 2004 By Jerome Michaels There are those special games that you mark on your calendar at the beginning of the season as a must-see. Usually it's a divisional rivalry or just two teams that have always peak your interest to see who would come out on top. For Cinnaminson and Delran, it would be a game to see if they could hand the other their first loss of the season. Both of these Burlington County Patriot divisional teams were riding a five game winning streak and wanted that success to continue. On this day, the Pirates were the team winning their sixth game in a row by posting a 6-1 victory. Dave Mebs picked up his 100th hit in his high school career for Cinnaminson. |
Baseball Spotlight: Thursday, April 22, 2004 By Bob Heller Trailing 5-3 and down to their last strike in their final at-bat, the USP men's baseball team scored three runs to defeat Philadelphia University 6-5 to advance to the championship game of the Bill Giles Division II Tournament. The win marks the first time in the four-year history of the tournament that the Devils will play for the Championship Trophy. The game will be played at the Philadelphia Phillies new ball park- Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday, April 27th at 7 p.m. the Devils will take on West Chester University (34-7) who defeated Wilmington College, 6-5 earlier in the week. The Golden Ram's are ranked 16th nationally as of the April 19th poll. This will be the first collegiate and non-Phillies game to be played in the new ball park. |
High School Baseball: Wednesday, April 21, 2004 By Jerome Michaels During the early portion of the regular scheduled baseball season, players are using their time at the plate working on getting solid contract with the ball in searching for a base hit. By mid season, high hopes of an average that’s above 300 would show how well the work at the plate has paid off. But again, it starts with those early at bats that set up how well a player’s individual season will be at the plate. The Rams from Gloucester Catholic would definitely take one step closer to increasing their averages by pounding out 16 hits during their 14-2 victory over Highland. |
High School Baseball: Wednesday, April 21, 2004 By Vincent Lewis Having a game scheduled almost every day of the week can either hurt a team or help them improve on their skills. Every batter accepts the challenge when stepping up to the plate in search of making good contact with the bat. By having played five days in a row, every starting player in the lineup has had the opportunity of working on coming through with those big hits. The Renegades from Shawnee had a day’s rest after completing their fifth game that ended on Monday. Cherokee was looking to put up their second win against Shawnee, but Sean Doolittle’s efforts only the mound allowed the Renegades to post a 7-0 shutout. |
Baseball Spotlight: Tuesday, April 20, 2004 By Bob Heller The University of the Sciences men's baseball team snapped their six game losing streak with a 5-4 win over Division I Temple University yesterday, handing the Owls their first loss at Ambler Field, their new home. Starter Daniel Fox (So., Harriton HS/Narberth, PA) worked out of two bases loaded jams and combined with two other Devil relievers to limit Temple to seven hits. Fox earned his first win of the season against four losses while Mike DeVincenzo (Fr., Bishop Hoban HS/Plains, PA) picked up his first save for the Devils, who improved to 9-21 overall. |

In 2002, Olivares was the starting shortstop for Trenton, batting .231 with 6 HR and 33 RBI. He signed as a non-drafted free agent in 1995. |

Facing a team that had posted 49 runs and 43 hits in a doubleheader sweep in its previous two games, Ulmer limited the hard-hitting Lions to five hits, two walks and one earned run while raising his record to 4-3. He struck out seven and lowered his ERA to 1.83. Ulmer also received Raptor of the Week honors on March 8, 2004. He also won the school's weekly honor as a sophomore (April 28, 2003) and was Co-Raptor of the Week as a freshman (March 4, 2002). |
High School Baseball: Monday, April 19, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It was a game that the Minutemen needed to win. After starting out the season winning 4 of their first 5 games of the season, the Ralph Shaw Classic baseball tournament can either turn a season around or let you scratching your head in disbelief. For Washington Township, they had split their games during the tournament and were looking for a much needed win. Steve Roop took charge on the mound while Mike Modica had a good day at the plate against the Chargers from Timber creek. Roop pitched a one hit shutout to highlight Washington Township's 10-0 victory. |
South Jersey Baseball: Sunday, April 18, 2004 By Dan Loney (Manchester, NH)- The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced on Sunday that RHP's Buddy Carlyle and Juan Padilla have been transferred to Columbus (AAA) of the International League. RHP Charlie Isaacson will join Trenton from Tampa (A) and Joe Orloski has been activated from the Disbaled List. |
High School Baseball: Friday, April 16, 2004 By Vincent Lewis There are those who believe that winning a game all starts with that person who stands on the mound tossing the baseball across the plate for a strike. When two cross city rivals met on the diamond, it would be Joe Voiro who came up with the big pitches for Cherry Hill West limiting Cherry Hill East’s chances of scoring. The Cougars would rally around their starting pitcher manufacturing the first 2 runs of the game during the first inning of an Olympic Conference game played at East. After a seven full innings were completed, Voiro would be rewarded with an 8-0 victory giving West their third victory of the young season. |
College Baseball: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 By Mike Ballard Bob Diepold never had the chance to play a baseball game at Campbell’s Field during his collegiate career at Rutgers University-Camden. The Scarlet Raptors’ assistant coach may finally be getting that opportunity after signing a contract with the Camden Riversharks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Diepold, who signed with the Riversharks Friday, will go to spring training with the team beginning April 19 at Campbell’s Field. That will give him the chance to make the team as a right-handed pitcher. |
College Baseball: Monday, April 12, 2004 By Mike Ballard Sophomore right-hander Tom Ford (Laurel Springs, NJ/Paul VI) provided the brightest spot in a tough 1-4 week for the Scarlet Raptors. Ford hurled a five-hitter, striking out seven and allowing no walks, to collect his first career shutout as Rutgers-Camden defeated Richard Stockton College, 7-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game April 9. Ford was in control throughout the game, as the Ospreys collected back-to-back hits only once. That came with one out in the second inning when junior first baseman Chris Freihaut and junior designated hitter John Orlando each poked singles, but Freihaut was erased between hits when he was caught stealing. That was the closest Ford came to having two runners on base all day. |
High School Baseball: Tuesday, April 6, 2004 By Jerome Michaels For majority of the teams this year, the last memory that is on their mind was the disappointment of not winning their represented division title or making it to the playoffs. There are those who made it to the post season but the feeling of coming up short still lingers in the minds of the returning players. But the beginning of a new season allows everyone to have high hopes of at least improving on their goals they have set out for themselves. Showing improvement on the mound and with their bats, Triton’s Nick LaMonica and Tom Ready both hit homeruns and pitched their way to the 5-4 victory over Camden Catholic. |
College Baseball: Monday, April 5, 2004 By Mike Ballard In a week which included a rainout, a late-inning rally and the start of the New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule, the Rutgers-Camden baseball team stretched its season-high winning streak to four games before losing a home conference doubleheader April 3 against Ramapo College. Ramapo senior Justin Ottman and junior Patrick Tuthill hurled complete-game victories as the Roadrunners swept Rutgers-Camden, 5-4 and 5-2. It was the first day of NJAC action for the Roadrunners, who were rained out of scheduled conference games Thursday and Friday. Ramapo improves to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC. Rutgers-Camden falls to 10-9-1 and 1-2, snapping its four-game winning streak. |
High School Baseball: Monday, March 29, 2004 By Vincent Lewis Grounds crew all over the country are preparing for what most still consider American's favorite past-time. The area ball fields in sand lots, public parks, high school grounds and stadiums are all getting a face lift preparing the playing field for the sport of baseball. With the Phillies really excited about playing on real grass, high school players all over our area are only use to the blades of grass. Maybe the local high school's playing surface is not as good as what's preserved at Citizens Bank Park, but its grass. Getting an early start on getting a few swings in against an opponent instead of practice, Cherokee and Vineland participated in a scrimmage before the season begins on this Thursday. |
Baseball Spotlight: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 By Bob Heller The young USP baseball team turned in an impressive performance yesterday, losing 1-0 at Division I LaSalle University. The Devils outhit the Explorers 8-6 and got a solid 7 1/3 innings pitched from starter Dan Fox (So., Harriton HS/Narberth, PA). Fox gave up just one earned run and six hits while striking out six LaSalle batters. |
