High School Girls Lacrosse: Shawnee Turns Up The Heat Against Eastern Friday, May 31, 2002 By Gary Steiner There's nothing like a girls lacrosse playoff game on a hot sunny day in May. But when the Lady Vikings of Eastern visited the Lady Renegades of Shawnee, both teams brought their own heat with similar fast and furious styles. It was Shawnee who brought the most, winning convincingly 17-7 to take the South Jersey A title and continue their pursuit of a state title and also a potential rematch with their archrivals Moorestown. |
High School Baseball: Audubon Captures South Jersey Group 2 Title Against Sterling Friday, May 31, 2002 By Art Redd Nate Schill and Rich Horan had to feel good about their performances in the South Jersey Group 2 championship game against the Sterling Knights. Good pitching, solid defense and clutch hitting was what gave Audubon a 2-1 victory at Cherry Hill High School. Schill never got into any real trouble during this game as he recorded five strikeouts through seven innings and watched his defense back up his two hit performance. Horan's clutch two out hitting accounted for both Audubon runs to go with his 3 for 3 performance at the plate. |
High School Softball: Pennsville Captures the South Jersey Group 1 Title Thursday, May 30, 2002 By Crystal Parker The fans had to be thankful for the nice weather they were finally enjoying this week. The warm temperatures and sunny skies made it easy to watch the extra inning championship game played at Eastern High School. For eight entertaining innings, Pennsville's Jamie Carlson and Haddon Heights' Michelle Schlichtig were masterful on the mound for their teams keeping a scoreless game until the bottom of the eighth inning. Casey Bradford would deliver a two out triple scoring Lauren Brewster to take home the championship title. |

The Lady Greyhounds from Northern Burlington were battling the Lady Panthers from Point Pleasant Boro in the South Jersey Group 2 championship game played at Cherry Hill West High School. The Panthers would score a run in the bottom of the seventh to send this game into extra innings. Starting pitcher Kerry Lee not only drove in the winning run and picked up the win for Point Pleasant Boro, but she also help her team capture the South Jersey Group 2 title with a 3-2 win. |

Already, the Crusaders have captured the Olympic Conference National Division title and were looking for more. In their way in the opening round were fifth seeded Mater Dei. Anthony Ragona provide enough runs himself with two home runs in the game giving Iannucci all the support he needed. Bishop Eustace coasted to a 10-1 victory to advance to the semifinals. |
