Washington Township scored three goals in a span of four minutes in the third period and went on to defeat Eastern 6-2 in a JVA division game played at Hollydell. After a scoreless first period, Adam Roy gave Eastern the 1-0 lead fifteen seconds into the second period on a nice pass from Bret Fadako. Nick Martorano would tie the game at 1-1 with just over eight minutes remaining in the second period. Both teams played solid defense and limited the scoring chances, but with Eastern on the power play Randy Einfalt scored with Bryce Lawson and Roy assisting and Eastern led 2-1.

Tim Miller had two goals and two assists as Scranton defeated Rutgers-Camden 4-3 in a Delaware Valley league game on Saturday at the Coliseum. Rutgers trailed 4-1 early in the third period, but a power play goal and an end-to-end rush by Adam Lemma cut the lead to 4-3. Despite out-shooting Scranton thirty-five to twenty-five, Rutgers couldn't get the equalizer. After Lemma scored his first of two goals to give Rutgers the early 1-0 lead, Miller tied the game shortly thereafter.

There is a class AAA semi-pro football team representing South Jersey in the Mason Dixon Football League. They are from West Deptford and are called the Broncos. With an impressive 11-0 regular season record in their first year in the league, the Broncos finished first in their division and were going up against the well-established Arbutus "Big Red" from Baltimore, MD. West Deptford had little problem in this playoff game, showing their dominance by posting a 33-7 victory to advance to the finals against the Central Virginia Storm.

There was a game played on Friday night at the Holleydell Ice Hockey Rink that turned out to be a shoot out. Clearview went up against Cinnaminson in a SJHSIHL game that the quicker team dominated. Clearview had little problems winning the game 10-0, but lost Mike Cianfrani for two weeks with a slight shoulder separation. Gunnar Fox and Patrick Sullivan each had a hat trick.

High School Soccer: Friday, November 5, 1999

Paul IV and Cherry Hill East met the week before in a regular season make-up game and played 110 minutes without a score for either team. This day they played through 103 minutes of soccer before determining a winner, and it wasn't very satisfying even for the winners. The game was decided on a rare overtime penalty kick. With minutes left in the first overtime, the official ruled that Adrienne Dugandzic from Paul IV had been fouled inside the offensive box. That gave Dugandzic an opportunity to shoot unopposed from about 15 yards out, an opportunity that heavily favors the shooter.

Buddy Anderson had two goals and three assists to help Washington Township skate by Lenape 7-3, in a varsity game played on Friday night at the Coliseum. Playing with a number of J.V. players in their lineup, as well as missing their starting goalie, Township generated fifty shots on goal. If not for the outstanding play of Indian's goalie Sean Sheehan, they would have scored a lot more.

Mike Becker notched a hat trick, but it was his hustle to break up a 2-on-1 to preserve the shutout that stood out as Eastern defeated Shawnee 10-0 at the Coliseum on Monday night. Although goalie Mike Keppler faced only seven shots, Shawnee had the odd man rush and only Becker's hustle from end -to end kept them off the scoreboard. John Schellenhammer scored the first of his two goals on the power play and the Vikings led 1-0.
