On Monday June 7, 1999, the sport section of all the country's major newspapers headlined the end of Roger Clemens 20-game win streak. The big New York Yankee right-hander lost his streak when the New York Mets pounded him for 7 runs in just 2 2/3 innings, and went on to a 7 - 2 victory.

South Jersey Softball: Saturday, June 12, 1999

It was the final game of the season for the SJGSA Girls 13-15 Junior Patriot Division, with Waterford Twp. visiting Haddon Heights. Heights kept it close until the 5th inning, when Waterford broke the game open by scoring 4 runs for a 15-8 lead, and Sarah Longino came in to pitch two shut out innings with 5 strikeouts for a final score of 17-8.

The Hollydell Hurricanes Summer Select PeeWee team opened their 1999 season with a convincing win on the road against a talented Iceline hockey club. Powered by #00 Ciesielski's hat trick and #99 Lucas' two goal performance, the Canes defeated Iceline 7-4.

South Jersey Softball: Tuesday, June 8, 1999

A SJGSA Girls 13-15 Junior Patriot Division game was played at Waterford Twp. versus Berlin. Waterford Twp. played a great softball game in the heat, beating Berlin 14 to 4 in five innings. Waterford is now 11-2 and they are the Patriot Division Champs. They played outstanding, both on offense and defense.

First rain, then the Memorial Day holiday prevented the Berlin Township #2 and the Berlin Boro girls from playing until Tuesday, June 8th. The heat and humidity were very high, so the girls were dressed in shorts, and had lots of water on hand.
