By Gary Steiner It was the final game of the season for the SJGSA Girls 13-15 Junior Patriot Division, with Waterford Twp. visiting Haddon Heights. Heights kept it close until the 5th inning, when Waterford broke the game open by scoring 4 runs for a 15-8 lead, and Sarah Longino came in to pitch two shut out innings with 5 strikeouts for a final score of 17-8. The sky was dark and threatened rain at Memorial Field, but only managed a few drops, not enough to spoil the game but enough to help keep things cool as there would be a lot of running around the bases. For Waterford Twp., Jennifer Malady had two hits and 4 RBIs, Lindshy Unghire had 2 hits and 1 RBI, Sarah Longino hit a triple for an RBI, Kaitlyn Schafer hit a double for 2 RBIs, Michele Nelson hit an RBI single, and Sarah Duckett also had an RBI single. For Haddon Heights, Kate Hastings hit a double and a triple for 2 RBIs, Luanne MacKerchar had two hits for one RBI, Amy Weiler hit a single for an RBI, Nicole Secinaro hit an single for an RBI, and Steffanie Ruoff also hit a single. Pitching for Haddon Heights were Jen Candy and Luanne MacKerchar, and for Waterford it was Michele Nelson and Sarah Longino. Congratulations to all the girls for a great season.
