High School Football: Friday, September 8, 2006 By Chase Robertson Woodstown, for those who don’t know, Coach Frank LaRubbio gave you a small idea as to what you can expect from your high school football athletes. Woodstown played with a desire that has not been that evident in quite some time, these guys came out and blocked, and ran and played like a team that knew better days are ahead. The defense should be commended for only giving up one score, a 53 pass reception from John Coppage to Aaron Hayward, the subsequent 2 point conversion, also scored by Hayward proved to be the difference as Penn’s Grove hung on for a 8 6 win. |
High School Soccer: Tuesday, November 1, 2005 By Jason Brown It has been a while, but it must have been worth the wait for the boy’s soccer team from Audubon. In first round South Jersey Group II tournament, the eighth seeded Green Wave were hosting the ninth seeded Wolverines from Woodstown. The Wolverines had qualified last year for a run at the sectional title, but Audubon were left out at that chance. This year was a different story as Audubon would completely dominate this game from start to finish. Goalie Andrew Rupertus would preserve the 3-0 victory for Audubon. |
High School Football: Friday, October 29, 2004 By Jerome Michaels They are that front line that sometimes goes un-noticed when a game is going well. Quarterbacks have all the time in the world to survey the field for an open receiver and runningbacks have the luxury of picking and choosing quickly which gap to run through. That was quite evident for Clearview's football team Friday night on their home field. Four rushing touchdowns and two passing proved that the o-line did its job in a very important win to guarantee a five hundred percentage run in hopes of being selected for the postseason. Clearview defeated Woodstown by a 45-13 margin and picked up their second win in a row. |
High School Soccer: Saturday, September 11, 2004 By Vincent Lewis After a long summer break and the beginning of a new school year, it's now the time for athletics directors to ensure that every fall sport has everything it needs to compete at the highest level possible. During scheduled home games, you can find most directors roaming around from field to field providing assisting where necessary. There are some that you'll find watching the game as a fan with high hopes of their team coming away with the win. At Lindenwold High School, the Lions were hosting Woodstown in a non-league boy's soccer game. Derryk Sellers was that athletic director riding away happy as Lindenwold recorded a 3-2 decision behind the scoring of Edwin Maldanade and Jaime Flores. |
High School Field Hockey: Tuesday, November 4, 2003 By Crystal Parker The first round of the South Jersey Group II field hockey playoffs began today with the fifth seeded Eagles hosting the twelfth seeded Wolverines from Woodstown. It was a first round matchup that the higher seeded West Deptford wasted little time proving that they were the better team. Brenna Lewis’ goal just minutes into this game started the ball rolling for the Eagles. Brittany Gibbs and Tiffany Hunter scored twice and West Deptford cruised to an 8-1 victory and advanced to the next round against Glassboro. |
