High School Lacrosse: Saturday, April 21, 2007 By Clark Washington It was another test for both teams to face as they both won their previous game and were looking to keep their momentum moving in the right direction. The Fighting Clan from Vineland traveled to Kingsway to take on the Dragons in a non-league boys' lacrosse competition. The young Vineland team appeared confident at the start of this game, but senior Anthony Conti from Kingsway quickly jumped on the scoreboard with two goals and set the tone for the rest of the game. The Dragons opened up a five goal lead at the break and expanded that lead to a final score of 13-1. Conti scored four goals during the first half alone to lead Kingsway to their fifth win of the season. |
High School Baseball: Saturday, May 20, 2006 By Vincent Lewis The 33rd Annual Joe Hartmann South Jersey Diamond Classic was in its final weekend as the sixteen team field would be narrowed down to four teams by the end of the day. Two of the teams advancing to today's quarterfinal round played at Washington Township High School would be the Fighting Clan from Vineland taking on the Buena Chiefs. Vineland would score twice in the third inning, but it would be the bottom of the fourth that decided this game. When that inning was completed, sixteen batters came up to the plate scoring twelve runs off of nine hits which included a three run homer by shortstop Jared Gruccio for Buena. The Chiefs would advance to the next round against Seneca with their 13-3 victory in this event presented by the South Jersey Baseball Association. |
High School Baseball: Sunday, May 15, 2005 By Jason Brown The Michael Dengler Tournament was held at Florence this year and the undefeated Lancers from Holy Cross was the team most focused on to see if they would extend their streak to twenty-two games without a loss. An impressive come from behind win yesterday over Florence advanced the Lancers into the finals against the Fighting Clan from Vineland. It would be a rematch from last year and Vineland was looking to defeat the defending champs of this tournament. John Vasquez took the responsibility of trying to slow down the high powered Lancers and was successful. Vineland’s two run second inning were all the runs Vasquez needed as Vineland would had Holy Cross their first loss of the season by posting a 7-0 victory. |
