High School Baseball: Wednesday, May 2, 2007 By Jason Brown It was a baseball game between two teams who have found different ways of keep their winning streak in tact. So when those teams take the field to figure out who's the better team on this day, only the players on the field will determine the outcome. The Golden Eagles from Seneca traveled to Bishop Eustace to take on the Crusaders in what most have considered two of the top teams in our area. Seneca's early success produced enough runs for starting pitcher Dan Grovatt to work with. The Golden Eagles produced six runs during the first two innings and were able to keep Bishop Eustace off the scoreboard. Seneca would extend their current winning streak to six games with their 8-0 victory over the Crusaders. |
High School Football: Friday, September 8, 2006 By Clark Washington Seneca played Lenape only twice in their brief history and both teams each won a game. To start the new season off, both of these teams would get a chance to break that tie as the Golden Eagles were looking to pick up a road victory. After a scoreless opening quarter, Seneca would score the game's first touchdown. Lenape did respond with an electrified kickoff return that gave hometown fans something to cheer about. But that's when the Golden Eagles twenty-six unanswered points through the fourth quarter to defeat the Indians 33-14. Six different players were responsible in scoring touchdowns for Seneca. |
High School Baseball: Wednesday, May 17, 2006 By Jerome Michaels When two teams with a six game winning streak competes against one another on the diamond, it's safe to say that one of those teams will have to lose. The Golden Eagles from Seneca traveled to Bishop Eustace in a battle between the top two teams from the Olympic Conference National Division. This game would be a classic version of October baseball being played at a high school level in the month of May. Good pitching and solid defense were just a few aspects of this game that both teams demonstrated on the field. Trailing by a run, Bishop Eustace would score twice during the bottom half of the fourth inning to go ahead of Seneca. The Crusaders would tact on an insurance run two innings later and defeat their opponent 4-2 and pick up the divisional title. |
High School Softball: Tuesday, May 16, 2006 By Susan Hall What a difference a day can be. In an emotional battle yesterday against Timber Creek, Seneca found themselves trailing by a run heading into the seventh inning. Not only did they send that game into extra innings, the Golden Eagles found a way during the ninth inning to defeat the Chargers by a run. Not wasting any time against today's opponent, Bishop Eustace, Seneca jumped out to a five run lead and never looked back. Kim Narkiewicz knocked in three of those runs with the first of two home runs on the day and Seneca would have an easier time picking up the victory at Bishop Eustace. The Eagles would post a 12-1 win in an Olympic Conference National Division softball game. |
High School Softball: Tuesday, April 25, 2006 By Joyce Sagerty For six complete innings, starting pitcher Susan Jackman relied on her pitching, team defense and Seneca's offense in order to keep the Lady Eagles from Paul VI from scoring any runs. Lately, the Eagles have gained the reputation of never giving up in a game and making every game a close one. Seneca would slowly build a four run lead heading into the top of the seventh inning. Adding one more run and now with a five run lead, Seneca would watch Paul VI rally back scoring four runs. That insurance run during the top half of the seventh inning proved to be the difference as Seneca would go on and pick up their 5-4 victory. |
High School Softball: Tuesday, April 18, 2006 By Susan Hall Even before the first pitch was thrown by the opposing team, the coaching staff had already gone over which player or players have the potential of making a big difference in a game. So when a player surprisingly comes through with a big hit, add another player on the must watched list. Whether it really was a big surprise to the other players on Seneca's softball team, Kim Narkiewicz crushed two home runs to dead center field highlighting the Golden Eagles 7-2 win at Cherry Hill West. |
High School Lacrosse: Tuesday, April 11, 2006 By Vincent Lewis When you take a look at the statistics, the match up between the Golden Eagles from Seneca and the Lancers from Holy Cross, it appeared that this would be a competitive game. The team limiting their turnovers and executing well would pick up the well deserved win. When Mike Schiraldi scored the first goal of the game for Seneca, Holy Cross would respond with a goal scored by Joe Wagner. That’s the way this Olympic Conference boys' lacrosse game went through four quarters. But on this day, the Golden Eagles’ hard work especially during the second half allowed them to outscore the Lancers by three goals. Seneca’s Kirk Kaiser would score three goals during that important second half and help the Golden Eagles pick up the 10-8 victory. |
High School Lacrosse: Saturday, April 1, 2006 By Clark Washington There's just over a month away before teams start worrying about the May 15th deadline to qualifying for the state tournament. With the start of a new season, it's always nice to pick up that first victory of the season especially on the first day. It puts a team one step closer in achieving that goal of extending the regular season. With new students making the team, this season will be interesting to watch. Participating in just their second season, the Golden Eagles from Seneca continue to impress in their game against Camden Catholic. The Golden Eagles would pick up the road victory with their 12-5 decision over the Fighting Irish. |
High School Football: Friday, November 4, 2005 By Vincent Lewis There’s so much at stake no matter who your opponent is when the regular season schedule plays out its final games. No opponent should be taken lightly especially when a division title is on the line. Today’s game against the Lenape Indians was a game Seneca needed to win, not just for the standings but for a chance to host a first round playoff game. The Golden Eagles were in a tie with Triton in the Burlington/Olympic League Liberty Division but also trailed Triton by just two points in the power points standings. So the Eagles game against the Indians did start they way they wanted, but did finish in a way they needed. After trailing early in the first quarter, Seneca would score the next twenty-three points to defeat Lenape by a 30-13 margin. Tim Meise finished the game with 118 yards on 21 carries for the Golden Eagles. |
