Arena Football: Satuday, May 15, 2004 By Matthew Gionta The CardSharks recorded the first road victory in the short history of the franchise Saturday night in Evansville, Indiana. The Evansville Blue Cats (3-4) could not stop the efficient Atlantic City offense, as the CardSharks scored over 50 points for the fourth time this season. High School Softball: Friday, May 14, 2004 By Susan Hall Both of these teams in today's Colonial Conference softball game had achieved their first goal of the season and that was to play above average softball to qualify for the playoffs. For Haddon Heights and Audubon that goal had been achieved. For Audubon, every win counts when trying to keep pace with Haddonfield and Sterling for the conference title. Audubon did not waste anytime putting runs on their side of the scoreboard. Giving starting pitcher Kiersten Hughes enough runs to pick up the victory early, Audubon cruised to a 6-0 win over Haddon Heights. |
High School Baseball: Friday, May 14, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It was one of those games that no lead seemed to be safe. Both teams sent a total of twenty-six crossing the plate that indicated the offense was clicking on all cylinders. Trying to do all that he could, pitcher Calvin Lewis survived Penns Grove 17-9 win over Wildwood with not just his pitching arm. Lewis stepped up at the plate during the bottom of the fifth inning and delivered a grand slam to push the Red Devils ahead for good. |

High School Lacrosse: Thursday, May 13, 2004 By Clark Washington So far this season, there have been two teams from the Olympic Conference that have set the standard of how to execute and win in the sport of high school boy's lacrosse. The two division leaders from the represented divisions met on the field at Shawnee High School to compete against each other for the first time this season. St. Augustine, who has had a tough series of games lately, ran into a Renegades team who has won 14 games in a row. High School Baseball: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It must have been a good day when you stepped up at the plate five times and delivered a base hit each and every time. Pitcher, yes, pitcher Andy Console missed the cycle batting at the plate, but he did pick up the 9-6 win for Haddonfield. The Bulldogs would score three runs during their top half of the eighth inning to defeat Audubon by a 9-6 margin in a Colonial Conference competition. |

Holy Cross took advantage of the opportunities presented to them that allowed the Lancers to pick up their sixteenth win in a row. Holy Cross won the game by a 4-0 margin. |
High School Softball: Tuesday, May 11, 2004 By Crystal Parker It has been a season of surprises for the softball team from Highland. Well maybe it's not that much of a shock to the players on the team. After failing to qualify for last year's playoffs and losing key players due to graduation, not many believed that this year the Lady Tartans would be among the leaders in a very competitive Tri-County Conference Royal Division. Starting pitchers Randi Cifelli and today's winner Megan Bianchini has been holding it down on the mound recording victory after victory. High School Baseball: Monday, May 10, 2004 By Jerome Michaels It's the reason why there's seven innings to a game, and that reason was quite evident Monday afternoon at Woodbury. In a Colonial Conference baseball game, the Gators from Gateway traveled to compete against the Thundering Herd. Having one of those seasons that they would like to play over, Woodbury provided those who were in attendance with a never-say-die play to the last at bat win. Needing two runs to send this game into overtime was never in the minds of the runners on base when Dirk Ranck delivered the hit that gave Woodbury the 6-5 victory. |
High School Softball: Monday, May 10, 2004 By Crystal Parker Hanging around after Gloucester had just handed Schalick its first loss of the season, you could help to hear the subject of walking Tina Londino instead of pitching to her. For seven full innings, neither team could score a run during a Tri-County Conference Classic Division softball game played at Gloucester City. Schalick had started the season winning thirteen games in a row looking for one more against the Lions. Londino stepped up to the plate and delivered the only RBI of the game with a single up the middle. |
