South Jersey Soccer: Saturday, July 3, 1999

The South Jersey Barons had lost to the New Jersey Stallions twice this year, but since their last meeting they have been going in opposite directions, with the Barons moving to a race for first place and the Stallions steadily dropping. Matt Miles scored 4 goals and Paul Royal recorded a shutout to avenge the two shutouts the Stallions handed to the Barons earlier this year.

In the 18th Annual Mike DeMarco Invitational Fastpitch Softball Tournament, 14-year-old division, Pennsauken beat the Millville Thunder 9-3 to win the championship. Pennsauken was 4-0 in the tournament.

On Tuesday, June 29, Stratford came to Pennsauken for a SJGSA Junior American game. Pennsauken was 11-2, Stratford 10-3. The winner would secure second place and home field advantage for the playoffs. Stratford took the early lead with 2 runs in the first and 3 in the second. Pennsauken managed 1 run in each inning against Stratford's starter, Jess McFerren, but in the fourth, Pennsauken pushed across 4 runs with some good base running. Christina Tofani had the key hit, an RBI single, to make the score Pennsuaken 6 - Stratford 5.

With their best-of-three SJGSA Junior Patriot Division playoff series tied at 1 game each, Stratford traveled to Waterford Twp. for the third game Monday night.
