The name of the game was defense, as Shawnee and Moorestown fought it out in a meeting of the two remaining undefeated teams in the Olympic Conference. This game most likely would set the tone for the playoffs, where there is a good chance they will meet again.

Just imagine walking up into the batter's box and preparing yourself to face a pitcher who has thrown all of her pitches over the plate with high velocity. Each one thrown would be called a strike by the umpire. So you dig your cleats into the dirt and prepare yourself for a duel with this pitcher. Well that's what Cherokee and Cherry Hill West batters were ready to do. As the game started, both teams would see nothing but strikes from Cherokee's MariEllen Singley and West's Jamie Elias. But it would be the Chiefs who would open up the scoring and beat West 12-0 at Cherry Hill.

The Cherokee Chiefs and the Moorestown Quakers came together for a meeting of two undefeated teams. Cherokee had been picked by many preseason polls to be number one in South Jersey, so Moorestown had something to prove. The Quakers also remembered how the Chiefs knocked them out of the playoffs last year.

It was another example of being patient and not losing their cool for Moorestown High School. After striking first blood in the first inning with two runs, the Quakers broke a 2-2 tie with 7 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Delran 9-2. Rocky Petrone came into the game in the third inning for Mike Rhoads and got the win for Moorestown. Petrone's second win of the season was supported by the defense and Rhoads' second homer of the year.

This was a classic example of the unexpected. Millville, considered one of the top teams in South Jersey High School baseball, visited Highland on Monday. Highland's starting pitcher Joe Ruple held returning star seniors Steve Setser and Jim Rhubart of Millville in check. Ruple pitched a complete game and had four strikeouts in the non-league 10-2 victory. Neil Tannabaum and Mike Murphy both had 3 hits each for Highland.
