High School Lacrosse: Friday, April 24, 1998
By Gary Steiner The name of the game was defense, as Shawnee and Moorestown fought it out in a meeting of the two remaining undefeated teams in the Olympic Conference. This game most likely would set the tone for the playoffs, where there is a good chance they will meet again. Neither team would score until Shawnee's Caitlin McCracken drew first blood with a goal off of a free position. McCracken would score the second goal also shooting off of a free position. Moorestown scored their first goal with a free position shot from Kate Slotman. The Lady Renegades seemed to be attacking the goal more aggressively, with Jackie Angermaier scoring to put them up 3-1. But Moorestown would come back with a goal by Andrea Collesidis to keep it close at 3-2 at halftime. In the second half, Shawnee quickly went back to work with a third goal by Caitlin McCracken. Moorestown would not give up, when Andrea Collesidis scored her second goal to put the score at 4-3. Summer Springstead would tie it for Moorestown at 4-4, Bringing some loud cheers from the home crowd. Shawnee's Jackie Angermaier would put the Lady Renegades ahead for good with her second goal of the game, this one off of a free postition. Julie Branin added some insurance with a goal to make it 6-4. Which was a good thing for Shawnee, as Kate Slotman would score her second goal to pull Moorestown back within one. But Whitney Ebbeson would put the final nail in for Shawnee, with a score to end it at 7-5.
