The Vineland Patriots won the Under-13 girls division of the Vineland Memorial Day Tournament this past weekend. First they played the Deptford Magic. Samantha Hand had a couple of tricks of her own for the Magic as she scored twice for Vineland. Meghan Carlin and Cindy Tobolski also scored for the Pats.

The Millville Panthers U-11 Girls Soccer team won their division of the 11th Annual Vineland Memorial Day Tournament. The Panthers defeated a very good Upper Bucks Select B team. To get to the final game, the Panthers defeated Upper Township 4-1, Deptford Demolition 6-0, Atlantic United 5-0, Vineland Crusaders 2-0 and the Final game was 4-2.

The Vineland Blue Devils U-16 boys soccer team played in one of the most talented all round divisions of the Memorial Day Tournament. There were no weak links with teams from Delaware, 4the bracket. First the local team played the Community AA Sting from Delaware. The score was 7-1. Phil Darby led the team with three goals.

The Vineland Lightning U-12 girls traveling soccer team continued their winning ways in the 11th Annual Memorial Day Tournament. First the Lightning met a team from Deptford, also the "Lightning." Vineland won 2-1 in the opening match. Goals were scored by Traci Tomarroand and Kristina Brenner. Nina Montero and Katlyn Andrews played well in goal for Vineland.

The Vineland Lynx under-15 boys soccer team snared 2nd place in the Vineland Memorial Day Tournament playing stiff competition from the tri-state area. First, the Lynx crushed Atlantic United 6-2. Steve Ganci got the hat trick (3). Goals were also scored by Rick Adams, Julius Mendez, and Mike VonSuskil.

The Vineland Hurricanes (U-12 boys) were here to defend their 1998 crown at the 1999 Vineland Memorial Day Tournament. Their first challenger was the Cherry Hill Demons. The Saturday morning match saw the Hurricanes control the early action. Shots by Mike Amari, Billy Redden and Steve Bond missed their mark. 23 minutes into the match, Kerry Daplyn finished a pass from Mike Amari to give a the 'Canes a 1-0 lead. Bobby Rupp scored the second goal for Vineland. A Steve Bond blast hit the crossbar and Billy Redden knocked in the rebound (3-0). Cherry Hill got on the scoreboard 3-1. The Hurricanes then exploded for three more tallies. Goals by Redden, and two by Bond sent the Demons packing. Evan Bostrom was excellent in goal for Vineland. Final score 6-1.

By Jerry Amari This year, 157 teams (roughly 2300 players) are registered to play in the three day event. Teams/clubs are coming to play from Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern and Central New Jersey, and Long Island New York.
The participating teams are separated by age and quality of play during the regular season. Vineland will have divisions from Under-9 Boys thru Under-17 years of age. The girls will play in Under-9 thru Under-17. Vineland Soccer Association's host teams are:
