South Jersey Soccer: Sunday, September 12, 1999
By Boog Williams It was opening day for Youth Soccer in South Jersey, and what a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the grass was finally green, and the kids were playing hard. I was asked by a friend to take photos of his son's soccer game. They started playing at 12:30. I made him a deal; if he would write an article, I would come to take photos, and he did (click here to see it). Unfortunately, I didn't know that I was going to be roped into covering two more games after his, but it was fun seeing kids playing and having a good time. The next two games saw the Gaetano's Knights (Williamstown) vs. the Berlin Eastern Stingers (U-10), and the Waterford Warriors vs. the Berlin Township Cougars (U-9). The U-10 game was a very well played game. At half time the score was 3-2 in favor of Gaetano's. Gaetano's had more skilled players, but the Berlin Township team did not give up without a struggle. Gaetano's defeated Berlin Township. Here is a schedule for the Berlin Township Stingers:
In the U-9 game, the Waterford Warriors defeated the Berlin Township Cougars by the score of 5 to 0. Here is a schedule for the Cougars team:
