Wilson's Fooks surpasses the 1,000 Point Mark

Saturday, February 4, 2006

By Susan Hall

Both Willingboro and Woodrow Wilson were having success this season at winning games and both have their stories to tell. When these two teams met at Rancocas Valley participating in the Jeff Coney Memorial Tournament, it was a chance to see two girl's basketball programs from different conferences compete in a non-league game. Tiffany Crews would lead Willingboro this season in scoring average, but this day belonged to Woodrow Wilson's De'ree Fooks and Ashley Baker. Fooks needed six points to record her 1000th point and she would do that and then some. Baker would be named most valuable player during the tournament that the Lady Tigers defeat Willingboro by a 67-45 score.

Willingboro Makes it Two in a Row against Greyhounds

Monday, January 23, 2006

By Jerome Michaels

For the second time this season, Northern Burlington and Willingboro competed against one another this time on the Greyhounds home court. Willingboro won the first game by ten points, but it’s always harder to play a team twice and expect that the same game plan will work. The Chimeras’ first quarter success pushed Northern Burlington into a deficit they would try to recover from for the remainder of this game. The Greyhounds would outscore Willingboro during the final three quarters, but the Chimeras would hold on to this game and pick up the 55-51 victory.

Camden Catholic Stops Willingboro at Cougar Classic

It was a girl's basketball tournament that gave teams an opportunity to compete against an opponent that they normally wouldn't have played. Gloucester defeating Riverside in overtime, Sacred Heart losing to Morris Catholic, Rancocas Valley falling to Trenton Central, and then there was the battle of the undefeated. Both Camden Catholic and Willingboro had played perfect team basketball but in this game, one team had to lose. After a very close first half battle, Camden Catholics would pull away in the third quarter outscoring the Chimeras by twelve points. Rashidat Junaid was the difference in this game scoring her 1000th career point leading the Irish to a 68-56 victory over Willingboro.

Camden Ends Chimeras Winning Streak

Saturday, October 23, 2004

By Jason Brown

It's an argument that could go on for days about which sport would be considered the toughest sport to participate in. The game of football can take its toll on players testing their ability to continue to play through four quarters at the highest level and sometimes with pain. Under those same conditions previously mentioned, when your starting quarterback and runningback are missing from the lineup, it serves as a motivation factor for both teams on the field. Willingboro was that team missing two key players that Camden took full advantage off. Scoring twice in the second half was enough for the Panthers to upset Willingboro by a 12-2 score.

Willingboro Turns Up the "D" to Shutdown Cherry Hill West

Thursday, September 23, 2004

By Vincent Lewis

There are those who believe that the most exciting play of a football game is a kickoff return for a touchdown. Others might have a different option and mention any offensive touchdown would rank at the top of their list. Willingboro's Taurean Johnson provided some excitement of his own when the linebacker recovered a fumble and rumbled down the left side for the apparent defensive score. His efforts came up 5 yards short, but the effort by the Chimeras defense highlighted this Burlington/Olympic Liberty Division football game against the Cougars from Cherry Hill West. Willingboro limited West's scoring chances and giving their offense ample time to post a 47-15 victory.
