Saturday, April 14, 2007 By Susan Hall The Lady Lions from Gloucester has the luxury of two very good starting pitchers on their team. Both Jill Stafford and Sam Dobleman have been perfect on the mound keeping opposing batters off balanced. In this game, Dobleman would get another start and was looking to extend Gloucester's unbeaten streak to six games. The Lady Cougars from Schalick and Gloucester would not score a run until the bottom of the fifth inning when Kelsey Cutler connected on a two run homerun. Schalick would get one of those runs back to pull within a run. Dobleman would take care of things during the final inning and preserve Gloucester's 2-1 victory. |

Tuesday, October 31, 2006 By George Brookings It was a match up that gave all of the indications that a very close and competitive game was about to begin. The first round of the South Jersey Group II boys' soccer tournament began at Sterling High School with the ninth seeded Cougars from Schalick taking on the Silver Knights who were the eighth seed. Both of these teams had the players that could single-handedly take control of a game, but it would be a team effort that would decide the outcome. Schalick appeared to have the emotional edge during the first half that Sterling was able to withstand especially when a goal by Mike Delp scored the eventual game winner. With the 1-0 victory, the Knights move on to the next round and compete against the top seeded Pirates from Cinnaminson. |

Tuesday, May 30, 2006 By Susan Hall It was on their wish list of items they wanted to accomplish but a game had to be played in order to receive their rewards. The Lady Hawks from Haddon Township knew that Schalick would not make it easy for them to advance to the South Jersey Group 2 finals. The Hawks would have to play their game and that would be to continue to hit the ball hard and the runs will come. Eight of their runs would come at the right time as Haddon Township posted a 9-6 victory over the Lady Cougars from Schalick. The Hawks will travel to the group finals against Overbrook. |

Saturday, November 19, 2005 By Clark Washington The highly favored Red Raiders from Paulsboro were in a similar position last year for the South Jersey Group I championship. The defending champs Cougars from Schalick defeated Red Raiders by two touchdowns and were looking to repeat as champs this time at Paulsboro. What a difference a year makes as Paulsboro would be without their top running back in DeAndre Fowlkes. The team has put together an impressive nine game winning streak with no losses because Paulsboro had worked together as a unit on the field. But it doesn’t hurt to have Shavon Mears on the team to continue Paulsboro's love to run the ball. The Red Raiders would increase their overall record to ten wins on no losses after defeating Schalick by a 20-3 margin and advance to the group finals against Glassboro. |

Thursday, October 27, 2005 By Clark Washington This was the last game of the regular season for Schalick, but it would have been nice to see this game played earlier in the season. In a non-league boy’s soccer game held at Eastern, the Vikings were hosting Schalick in a game that neither team needed to win in order to qualify for the upcoming tournament. Both of these teams have secured their position in the playoff and it would hard to say that each team didn’t give it their all to win this game. Nevertheless, when the Cougars scored the first goal of the game early in the second half, Schalick proved to be the better team on this day. The Vikings would watch Schalick post a 2-0 victory over them and both teams await the start at their run at the title next week. |

Monday, September 12, 2005 By Susan Hall Every team would like to pick up that first win on the first day that the season begins. It’s not a big disappointment if your teams doesn’t win during that game, but it’s one that team would like to forget quickly. For the Cougars from Schalick and the Lions from Gloucester City, both were looking to pick up that first win of the season in a Tri-County Conference Classic Division. During the first half of this game, the two teams played evenly and this game would be decided in the second half. Gloucester City’s Lauren Ross would break the deadlock with a goal halfway through the period and the defense would hold on to pick up the 2-1 victory. |

Tuesday, March 8, 2005 By Jason Brown Clearview High School was the neutral site for this year’s South Jersey Group I boy’s basketball championship game. The two top seeded teams made their way through the bracket with Burlington City labeled as the number one team in the group taking on the Cougars from Schalick. When the first quarter ended, the Blue Devils were ahead by seven points but that was only the beginning of this title game. No lead was safe when Paul Gause is on the court, or not on the court. During their 74-72 victory over Burlington City, it was a team effort that was the winners in this game. |

Tuesday, February 15, 2005 By Jason Brown The excitement at Gloucester City High School was at an all-time high with the division leading Cougars from Schalick entering the building. By now, many know the talents of Paul Gause and his attempt in closing in on his milestone 3,000 career point total. Whether that intimidated Gloucester or not, the Lions didn't seem to be effected leading at the half by thirteen points. But from that point on, Schalick fought back to tie this game at the end of regulation and send it into overtime twice. Gause along with his teammates pulled out the victory by a 79-74 margin. |

Friday, October 22, 2004 By Susan Hall For those teams that have qualified for the playoffs by finishing with a record above five hundred before the cutoff date, it's now time to refocus on improving on the areas that needs some work. The seeding for the soccer postseason brackets will be out soon and teams can begin the preparation against their opponent. Both Schalick and Highland's girls soccer teams were coming off of wins and had earn a shutout in that victory. In this Tri-County Conference interdivision game, the Lady Tartans would watch their opponents score twice in the second half to earn the tie. |
