High School Field Hockey: Wednesday, November 1, 2006 By Susan Hall When a team has won so many group titles, an opposing team can be a bit intimidated with all of their recent success. Pemberton's field hockey program has turned itself back into a winning tradition and they would get a chance to see how far their accomplishments would take them. Traveling to Moorestown and competing in a Central Jersey Group II tournament, the Lady Quakers took a small advantage at the break and used the second half to continue to stay ahead of Pemberton. Cornelia Duffin would score three of the four goals scored in this game and help Moorestown advance to the finals with their 4-0 victory. The Lady Quakers will now try to pick up their fifth consecutive sectional title. |
High School Football: Saturday, October 21, 2006 By Clark Washington It has been a season of come from behind wins in the league and the Panthers from Camden have come away with several late victories. For the host, the Hornets from Pemberton, most of their focus would be on next week's opponent in an anticipated battle between the top two teams in their division. During the first half of the "Senior Day" game, Pemberton appeared to be in full control at the start of the second half leading by two touchdowns. Camden would claw their way back into this game, but a late rally would be halted by the Hornets swarming defense. Pemberton would be able to sit on their 20-12 lead late in the game and pick up their Burlington/Olympic Patriot Division win setting up next week's showdown. |
High School Basketball: Thursday, March 2, 2006 By Jerome Michaels The race to the group finals just got a bit interesting. On one side of the bracket, the Panthers from Camden had knocked off the number two seed in Highland. When the Spartans from Deptford traveled to Pemberton in search of an upset over the number one seeded team, it would take a sound performance by the so called underdog in this game to come up with the win. Rickie Crews was up for the challenge as he would lead Deptford’s recovery from an early deficit and then regain their lead down to stretch. The Spartans would post a 59-56 victory to knock off the top seed in a South Jersey Group 3 game played at Pemberton. |
High School Basketball: Thursday, March 3, 2005 By Jerome Michaels After cruising past Oakcrest in the opening round of their tournament run, the fourth seeded Hornets from Pemberton hosted the fifth seeded Pioneers from Clearview at home. Playing on back to back days didn’t slow down Pemberton’s quest to advance to the semifinals. The Hornets established the momentum very quickly and held on during the second half. The scoring did pick up during the third and fourth quarters but the Pemberton would stay one step ahead of Clearveiw. With their 77-72 victory, the Hornets will now travel to Camden to take on the Panthers. |
