KiXX Win Fourth Straight, 13-12 in Milwaukee Sunday, December 31, 2006 By David Deal The Philadelphia Kixx (7-3) closed out 2006 with a New Year's Eve win vs. the Milwaukee Wave (4-6) at U.S. Cellular Arena. The contest was televised live on CN8. The KiXX finish December with a record of 5-1, and lead the Chicago Storm by a half game atop the MISL Standings. In the first quarter of action, Milwaukee jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on Todd Dusosky's ninth goal of the season. Wave rookie Marcio Leite scored his fifth goal on the season to give the Wave a 4-0 lead. The KiXX got on the board on a strike from player/coach Don D'Ambra, who extended his point streak to eight games. D'Ambra played in his 450th career game in Chicago on December 29, where he also recorded the 900th point of his 11-year career. D'Ambra's 11th goal of the season was number 399 of his career. Genoni Martinez recorded the assist, his 11th point of the year to lead all Philadelphia defensemen in that category. |

Devils Hold on to Defeat Griffins Thursday, December 28, 2006 By Bob Heller Chestnut Hill College hung tough with the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in tonight's men's basketball game at the Bobby Morgan Arena, but the Devils proved to be the tougher team, limiting the Griffins to just six points over the final six minutes as they hung on to win 64-53. The win improves the Devils record to 5-4 overall. Chestnut Hill drops to 4-6. USP placed three players in double figures and had six players with eight or more points on the evening. Brendan Rutledge came off the bench to pace the Devils with 13 points on 6-for-7 shooting from the field. Howard Lanier and Collin Harrington added 10 points apiece while Keith Dundas chipped in nine points and pulled down a game-high ten rebounds. William Kurtz and Michael Mullane each had eight points. Kurtz also dished out a game-high seven assists. |

Devils Cruise to Win over Chestnut Hill Thursday, December 28, 2006 By Bob Heller The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia turned a close game into a big lead with a 17-3 run in the final four minutes of the first half as they defeated Chestnut Hill College 70-47 in a women's basketball game at the Bobby Morgan Arena in Philadelphia tonight. The Devils improve to 5-4 overall with the win while the Griffins drop to 4-7. Erin Chesnavich returned to action after missing six games with an ankle injury to lead all scorers with 16 points. Shelby Rance also reached double figures for the Devils with 13 points. Chesnavich and Rance also led the Devils with eight rebounds apiece. Rashanna Edwards chipped in nine points and dished out a game high six assists. USP also got 22 points from their bench including eight from Shay Nelson and six from Hayley Lentz. |

Pitman's Early Success Extends Winning Streak Wednesday, December 27, 2006 By Stephanie Wright The Lady Panthers from Pitman coaching staff were having success at putting their players in the right situations to win games. It's always nice for a team to start out a new season competitively and that's what Pitman has been doing. Mary Beato and Chayle McFaull has been leading the way in scoring for the Panthers and they would continue helping their team post wins. In their game at home against Overbrook, Pitman jumped out to a double digit lead and never looked back. The Panthers would post a 61-48 victory and extend their winning streak to four games in a row. |

Cherry Hill East Survives Greyhounds' Late Run Wednesday, December 27, 2006 By Jerome Michaels With the start of a new basketball season, expectations are usually high for every team that steps out on the court. There are those teams that many did not rank them as one of the elites, but that doesn't stop the players from competing in a sport that they love to play. Cory Gosik was one of those players connecting on nine three points for the Cougars from Cherry Hill East in a game played against Northern Burlington. The Cougars would hold off a late rally and post a 53-51 victory in a tournament competition. |

West Gets Back to Winning Ways in Tournament Play Wednesday, December 27, 2006 By Jerome Michaels It was a basketball tournament that both Cherry Hill boys' basketball teams had a chance to reach the finals. Competing against the Thunderbolts from Millville in the Virginia Whitaker Classic tournament held at Cherry Hill East, Cherry Hill West's early lead had diminished against Millville. Ian Davis' effort down the stretch helped the Lions go ahead for good. The defense would pick up helping West preserve their 68-63 win and advance to the tournament finals against Cherry Hill East. |

Lady Cougars Cruise in Cherry Hill Tournament Wednesday, December 27, 2006 By Jerome Michaels Justin Osterdahl scored four goals and Josh Haines played outstanding in nets as Williamstown defeated Washington Township 6-4 in last game before the holiday break for both teams. Williamstown was in control of the game until midway thru the final period having built a 5-1 lead. Tim Larkin and Osterdahl put Williamstown up 2-0 after the first period and Haines stopped several breakaways. The second period was much like the first, Haines again stoning Township on three breakaways and Osterdahl scoring two goals. Christian Biscardi finally solved Haines and Township trailed 4-1 after two periods despite out-shooting Williamstown 29-12. |

Phantoms Fall To Bears, Hershey Takes 4-1 Win Wednesday, December 27, 2006 By Mike Thornton The Hershey Bears jumped out to a 3-0 cushion and fought their way to a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on Wednesday night at the GIANT Center. The game marked the 900th professional appearance for Phantoms captain John Slaney. The Bears started the game's scoring at 15:17 of the first period on a solo act by Chad Wiseman. He carried the puck into the Phantoms zone down the right wing side and snapped a wrist shot past the stick side of Martin Houle for the unassisted goal that gave the Bears a 1-0 advantage. |

Philadelphia Wins 3-1, Third Victory In Last Four Games Tuesday, December 26, 2006 By Mike Thornton Niko Dimitrakos figured in all three Philadelphia Phantoms goals Tuesday night, scoring two himself and assisting on a third to power his club to a 3-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. Phantoms captain John Slaney, a former Penguin, notched three assists in Philadelphia's third victory in its last four games. Thanks in large part to starting goaltenders Scott Munroe and Jeff Deslauriers, the fourth meeting of the season between the intrastate rivals stayed scoreless in the first. The Phantoms had some quality efforts, including a 1-1 with Philadelphia's Triston Grant alone at the top of the crease, only to be denied by the glove hand of Deslauriers. |
