South Jersey Baseball: Friday, August 13, 2004 By Chuck Betson The Atlantic City Surf scored seven runs in the seventh and eighth to break up the pitchers duel and lift the Surf over the Bridgeport Bluefish, 9-6 on Friday night at Sandcastle Stadium. With the game tied at two, the Surf took advantage of Bluefish starter Blake William’s ejection, the third Bridgeport player to be thrown out of the game, to score four runs in the seventh. |
South Jersey Baseball: Thursday, August 12, 2004 By Jerome Michaels So far during the second half of their season, the Riversharks has been hovering around the five hundred mark in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball South division. After splitting their first 2 games against the division leaders of the North division, Bridgeport Bluefish battled back twice against the Sharks to pull out the 7-6 victory. A ninth inning run scored by Angel Espada gave the Bluefish the win. |
South Jersey Football: Thursday, August 12, 2004 By Marty Cross The undefeated Camden Lynx (4-0, 5-0) prepare to take on the undefeated Philadelphia Scorpions (4-0, 6-0) this Saturday at Roxborough H.S. in Philadelphia. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm. Although this is the first meeting between the two teams, both teams are a little familiar with each other since they did compete in a controlled scrimmage back in June. Both teams are tied for first place in the NAFL - Northeast Region - Eastern Division. The Lynx and the Scorpions are two of the three undefeated teams remaining in the 21 team region (Central Penn Piranha). |

Pennsylvania scored the first run of the ballgame in the eighth using three straight two-out singles. They tacked on an insurance run in the ninth with a solo homerun by Rob Cafiero. |

When the game started it looked as if the Riversharks would carry over their offensive effort from the night before as Quincy Foster ripped a triple into the right field gap and scored the only Riversharks run on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Jones. |

Jackson will call the Trenton vs. New Britain game on August 14 at 7:05 and the Trenton vs. Binghamton game on August 28 at 7:05. The games will be broadcast on WBUD 1260 AM, WHTG 1410 AM and online at www.nj.com starting at 6:45. |

The Camden Riversharks brought their offense following their first day off in 24 days as they used a 10-run third inning on their way to a 16-7 rout of the Bridgeport Bluefish at Campbell’s Field on Tuesday night. Already leading 3-1 heading into the home half of the third inning, the Riversharks had their first nine batters reach base as they broke the game wide open. Camden catcher Chris Widger capped the double-digit inning with a two-run home run, his third of the year, to dead centerfield. |
South Jersey Soccer: By Boog Williams On August 2 through 6, campers in the longest running soccer day camp in South Jersey hit the fields at the Camden County Technical School in Sicklerville. It would not have been the usual soccer camp, in its historic 21st year, unless the hottest and most humid days started off the camp, which they did. By the end of the week, though, it was some of the best days of the summer. The camp was for boys and girls from the ages of 5 to 15. |

Philadelphia's home opener is then set for Friday, Oct. 22 at 7:05 p.m. at the Wachovia Center vs. last year's winner of the North Division, the Hamilton Bulldogs. |
