South Jersey Football: Thursday, August 12, 2004 By Marty Cross The undefeated Camden Lynx (4-0, 5-0) prepare to take on the undefeated Philadelphia Scorpions (4-0, 6-0) this Saturday at Roxborough H.S. in Philadelphia. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm. Although this is the first meeting between the two teams, both teams are a little familiar with each other since they did compete in a controlled scrimmage back in June. Both teams are tied for first place in the NAFL - Northeast Region - Eastern Division. The Lynx and the Scorpions are two of the three undefeated teams remaining in the 21 team region (Central Penn Piranha). This game is going to be a very big on the east coast. Not only because of the teams' records but because of the growing rivalry the players have created while running into each other at various events in the area. The Delaware River is what separates Philadelphia from Camden. Both teams are ranked in the Eastern Region of the Minor League Football News poll. The Scorpions, who dropped down a position this week, are ranked #3 and the Lynx, who moved up two spots, are ranked #8. With this game getting all the hype of a "game of the week", the fans are in for a fast-paced hard-hitting contest. May the better team win! |
