High School Boys Lacrosse: Saturday, April 19, 2003 By Clark Washington So far this season, Cherokee and Shawnee boys lacrosse teams have gotten off to a quick start as first year programs. Both teams have a host of seniors along with some talented juniors and sophomores that have led their teams above the level of other first year programs. Every team has been searching for particular players to take charge and absorb some of the leadership roles that others to follow. Senior Shawn Pettit and sophomore Keith Priftie each netted 3 goals apiece for Shawnee during their Olympic Conference American Division matchup against Cherokee. The Renegades would go on to dominate this game and roll past Cherokee by outscoring the Chiefs 10-2. |
Winning Ways (FYI): Friday, April 18, 2003 By Gregory "Graig" White Finally, a book as a coach and parent of an athlete I feel I can trust. There are lots of books out that are talking about concepts that I just don't know about. Concepts that just don't have a place in the lives of some of our younger athletes. Things that can be dangerous and should not even be in the heads of those athletes. |

High School Baseball: Monday, April 14, 2003 By Vincent Lewis Getting that first hit of the season has to bring relief to a batter to they finally finding some open spaces for that elusive base hit. That personal achievement could go un-noticed as the team still hasn’t recorded their first win of the season. Shawnee has gotten off to a quick start winning their first three games looking to add one more game to their streak against the Mustangs from Triton High School. On this day, Triton would collect ten hits including a bases loaded homerun from senior Ryan Patterson in the second inning.
