Event Spotlight: Charge Remain Undefeated in 3-1 Win over Washington Monday, May 13, 2002 SJSports Staff Writer The WUSA's (Women's United Soccer Association) most familiar player, Mia Hamm, could only watch as the hometown Philadelphia Charge remained undefeated (4-0-0) following an impressive 3-1 over the Washington Freedom (2-3-0) in front of 8,185 fans at Villanova Stadium and a national television audience. Hamm, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on her left femur in February, has yet to be cleared to play by team physicians. There is no letdown because she [Hamm] won't be playing, said Charge coach Mark Krikorian, we'll play the team that shows up. And that they did. |
