High School Volleyball: Viking Invitational Has Strange Ending No Power Equals No Winner Saturday, September 15, 2001 By John Daglian The 7th annual Viking Invitational Girl's Volleyball tournament was held at Eastern High School on Saturday September 15th. This tournament normally features several of the top Group 4 schools in the state. However, in light of the recent events three teams were unable to attend. In order to maintain two 5 team pools, Eastern entered three teams and Cherry Hill East entered two teams. |
High School Football: Timber Creek Loses Their Football Debut Against Woodrow Wilson Saturday, September 15, 2001 By Vincent Lewis Starting a new football program at any high school has its work cut out for them. Woodrow Wilson would be the first team to welcome the Timber Creek Chargers to the National Division Olympic Conference. The Tigers would expose all of Timber Creek's inexperience and won this game from the opening kickoff. Scoring all but six of their points in the first half, Wilson posted a 56-24 victory at Highland High School. |

Both of these teams were regarded as legitimate contenders in winning their divisional title. In a very close game through two quarters, the Chiefs began to take advantage of every Camden Catholic mistakes to pull away for a 27-7 victory. Sean Mayers accounted for all of the touchdowns scored by Chiefs including a 66-yard run that finally put the game away. |
South Jersey Soccer: Berlin Township U-10 Girls' Soccer Update: Teams Tie In Day Of Remembering Saturday, September 15, 2001 By Boog Williams The Berlin Township Hurricanes traveled to Winslow for a soccer game against the Sharks. The preparation for the game really started the night before. My daughter suggested that it would be nice to give the other team American Flags and a lollipop before the game during a moment of silence. We drove around town for over an hour trying to find flags. We put together the flags and the pops and went to our game. |
High School Football: West Deptford Spoils Lindenwold's Opener Friday, September 14, 2001 By Gary Steiner This was supposed to be an evening to celebrate the opening of Lindenwold football, with the first home game for the new high school. But everyone's thoughts were on the tragedy of three days earlier in New York City, Washington DC, and Shanksville, PA. The crowd lit candles, and held a moment of silence before the game. Lindenwold student Felicia Valez sang "God Bless America", and the crowd cheered the start of the game, looking for something to show that our lives could get back to normal. |

The three players were selected in last month's MISL Dispersal Draft. Per team policy, terms of the offer sheets are not disclosed. The KiXX also announced that veteran defender Scott Henderson, an original member of the team and its all-time leader in blocks, has retired. |
