South Jersey Soccer: Saturday, May 6, 2000

The South Jersey Barons are looking to repeat the 1999 season as regular season Champions and National Championship Finalists. They started out the fine season last year with a 3-0 loss to the Stallions. This year started he same. Last year the Stallions won the first two meetings and the Barons won the last two. The last meeting gave the Barons the regular season championship, and due to a quirk in the playoff system, moved the Stallions to a third place spot in the Divisional playoffs.

High School Softball: Tuesday, May 2, 2000

The Edgewood Eagles (7-5) upset highly ranked Shawnee (11-4) in an Olympic Conference softball game by the score of 2-0. The weather was great for softball, sunny, light breeze, and warm. The game was scoreless and saw a pitching duel between Edgewood's Switenko and Shawnee's Basenfelder until the bottom of the fifth.

High School Baseball: Tuesday, May 2, 2000

After coming off a tough loss to Washington Township, the Cherokee baseball team pounded out 4 home runs against a deflated Edgewood pitching staff. The wind was blowing out to left in this game. Cherokee scored 9 runs in the first two innings, seven of which were scored on Phil D'Alonzo's first two plate appearances. He hit a 3 run monster home run in the first and a grand slam in the second inning.

High School Softball: Monday, May 1, 2000

With the Easter break completed for most schools and April showers hopefully now over, Willingboro traveled to Moorestown in a Burlington County girl's softball game. Both these teams were looking for any kind of win late in the season. After scoring early and often, the Lady Quakers had little problems defeating Willingboro 12-2 on Monday afternoon.
