Mid-Atlantic Sports Academy Keeps Basketball Rolling

Dawud Abdur Rahkman and Perm Pitman formed the Mid Atlantic Sports Academy Inc. with a simple goal in mind. "We want to assist our student athletes in using sports to help them further their education, to assist them in becoming better people." They held a tournament at Rutgers-Camden University which included teams made up of high school players from Pennsauken, Trenton, Deptford, Haddonfield, Highland, Vineland, Holy Spirit, Camden Catholic, Camden, Allentown (PA), William Allen (PA), Delaware, Maryland, Pleasantville and Saucon Valley (PA).

High School Volleyball:
East Brunswick Holds Off Cherry Hill East In Eastern Tournament

In Voorhees on Saturday morning, Eastern High School was the place to be for the Eastern Viking Spring Invitational Volleyball Tournament. Teams from New Jersey competed in a boy's volleyball tournament run by Coach Tom Armour. With ten teams split into two pools, the finals championship match came down to East Brunswick against Cherry Hill East. As expected, the match went to the best of three, with East Brunswick taking the final game of the match to capture their second straight Eastern Viking Spring Tournament.

High School Girls Lacrosse:
Shawnee Outruns Cherokee 15-9

The Lady Renegades of Shawnee traveled to Marlton to continue their rivalry with the Lady Chiefs of Cherokee. The last time these two teams met was when Shawnee defeated the Lady Chiefs 14-5 in the second round of last year's playoffs. Even though the Lady Chiefs were hurting after a surprise loss to Collingswood on Wednesday, they looking forward to taking out their frustrations on the rival Lady Renegades. But Shawnee was able to outrun Cherokee, coming away with an important 15-9 win.

High School Ice Hockey:
Gloucester County Clinches Berth In Tournament Final

Pat Sullivan had two goals, Eddie Marker had a goal and three assists to lead Gloucester County to a 6-4 win over Camden County in the SJHSIHL round robin tournament. With the win, Gloucester clinches a spot in the finals and will await the winner of the Burlington County versus Camden County game on Wednesday night at High Ridge, the new rink in Gibbsboro. Camden County's Brendan Ramsey was spectacular in goal and his play in the first period was the main reason they led 1-0, despite being out-shot 14-5.

High School Ice Hockey:
Gloucester Co. Blasts Burlington Co. in SJHSIHL Tournament

Gunnar Fox had one goal and three assists, while Eddie Marker and Joe Gori added two goals apiece as the Gloucester County All-Stars defeated the Burlington County All-Stars 10-3 in the first game of the SJHSIHL round robin tournament. Gori opened the scoring in the first minute of the game on a feed from Pat Sullivan. Less than a minute later Fox made it 2-0 on a pass from Marker. Bill DeVece cut the lead to 2-1 at the twelve -minute mark and it looked like Burlington County had stopped the momentum.

Four Teams Get Great Day To Start
Edgewood's Sean Adams Gets Hole-In-One

On what was supposed to be a raining, yucky day ended up being a great day for golf. The sun was shining and the wind was light and warm. The start of the high school season was under way. Two matches were being played at the Pinelands Golf Course in Winslow. Pinelands is the home of the Edgewood Eagles and the Hammonton Blue Devils golf teams. The Edgewood Eagles had a match against the Overbrook Rams. Hammonton Blue Devils had a match against the Bridgeton Bulldogs.
