On Sunday July 11, Stratford headed to Pennsauken to continue the best of 3 playoff series in the SJGSA Junior American Division. Pennsauken led the series 1-0, after defeating Stratford in the opening game on Wednesday.

In our task to try to select the best Riverside High School baseball players and coach of the 20th century, we found our assignment to be no easy matter. A number of road blocks faced the selection of the Rams' elite team, as varied levels of competition and the aluminum bat introduction were just a few of the conditions that had to be weighed. These factors plus other intangibles made the comparison of player achievements over the years difficult at best.

Last Saturday Matt Miles scored 4 goals to beat the New Jersey Stallions 4-0, and it looked for a while as if he might do it again. But tonight's game had more balanced scoring, with goals from Matt Miles, Joe Nick and Majik Agu.

The New Jersey All-Stars defeated the New York All-Stars in the 2nd Annual Governor's Bowl All-Star Classic held at Rutgers Stadium. For New Jersey, Josh Minkins of Willingboro was awarded Offensive MVP, and Shaun Price of Haddon Heights was awarded Defensive MVP.

After having tied each other in their final regular season game a week ago, Pennsauken traveled to Stratford for the two teams to play in the opening round of the SJGSA Junior American Division playoffs. Pennsauken had clinched home field advantage in this best-of-three series with the tie.

Event Spotlight: Monday, July 5, 1999

The First Annual Berlin Parade 5K was held this morning before the start of the Berlin Borough / Berlin Township Independence Day Parade. The race took advantage of the route that is cleared for the parade. The start and finish was on the White Horse Pike in front of the Berlin Borough Municipal Building, with the route taking the racers up over the bridge on to Haddon Avenue in Berlin Township to the West Berlin Fire Hall, then retracing their steps back over the bridge down the White Horse Pike to Broad Street, down Broad to Berlin Park, then back again to finish in front of the Municipal Building.
