The Cherry Hill Girls Soccer Association held their First Annual Cherry Hill Girls Invitational Tournament this weekend at Fort Dix. Forty-four girls teams from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, ranging in ages from U-9 to U-15, invaded the army base for some serious soccer competition. You could not have asked for better weather, though being a little on the warm side, both water and sun block were in high demand.

High School Baseball: Saturday, June 5, 1999

The high powered, hard hitting Riverside's road to the State Group 1 Finals took place at Toms River North High School against the Glen Rock Panthers. The Rams were seeking their third title in the last four seasons while Glen Rock were looking for their first state title. Riverside's quest ended when their opponent finally got past them. Glen Rock's senior starting pitcher Matt Percelli had complete control of his game as he struck out 14 batters en route to their first title. Glen Rock ended a threat by the Rams in the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve a 3-2 victory.

Runnemede came to Pennsauken looking to pull an upset in the SJGSA 13-15 Junior American Division. Runnemede scored 2 in the first on singles by Stephanie McWilliams and Jennifer McDaniels, but Pennsauken responded by scoring 4 in the bottom of the first. Randi Beatrice had an RBI single and stole home. Krystal Wilhelm added a 2-run single.

This past Memorial Day weekend young athletes along with their families participated in the Voorhees Soccer Association's Memorial Day Classic. The tournament is a four day annual event with over 250 teams from across the state of New Jersey and some from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

A SJGSA Girls 13-15 Junior Patriot Division game was played at Waterford Twp. versus Clementon. Waterford Twp. played their best softball game this year both on offense and defense, winning 16 to 6 in 5 innings.
