Delran went into Moorestown hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive. But unfortunately, the Bears had to go against another great Burlington County team. The Quakers were looking to keep pace with Holy Cross atop the Burlington County Liberty Division. Turnovers would be the key factor in the Quakers' 21-10 victory.

Every team loves to get that early lead to gain the edge on their opponent. The Red Devils did that on their opening drive and held off Highland's late charge. Rancocas Valley increased their record to 4-2 while Highland fell to 2-4. The final score showed that extra points could win the game. The Tartans failed on both point after attempts and lost 14-12.

The BTAA Soccer Midgets took to the field on Saturday for their last game of the season. In the first game, Team Xerox played Team Sundaes (0-0) and Team American Express played Team NTI (0-1). R. Burns scored the only goal for the winners.

High School Cross Country: Friday, October 23, 1998

Three hundred sixty-two runners from 15 area high schools enjoyed beautiful weather while running a 5K cross country race at Cherokee for the 1998 Burlington County Open. Cherokee, with 28 points took first in the boys varsity race while Shawnee's 63 points made second place. Lenape was third with 103 points. In the girl's varsity race Shawnee was first with 44 points, Moorestown second with 95 points, and Cherokee was third with 132 points.

It was one of those games where two top notch teams go head to head. The Lady Cougars of Cherry Hill East battled the Lady Indians of Lenape to a scoreless first half. These two evenly matched teams then put a few points on the scoreboard in the second half. The Cougars took the lead but Lenape would not give up so easily. When the final seconds ticked off the clock, it was a 3-3 tie game.

In a game which featured some terrific individual matchups and extremely well matched teams, Eastern squeezed out an almost impossible goal to give the first place Vikings a win over the previously unbeaten Cougars of Cherry Hill East. Some of the best matchups on the field were Cherry Hill's Christy Madden against Eastern's Jessica DiSabatino and Eastern's Courtney McCrudden against Cherry Hill's Jesse Naumann, while in the middle Rhea Campbell and Merideth Sobel matched up.
