Cross Country Preview: Tuesday, August 25, 1998
By Bill Albertson Watch out South Jersey, the Minutemen are going to be back in action. After their best season in school history where they qualified for the state meet and sent one man to the Meet of Champions, the Minutemen are looking to continue their winning tradition in the 1998 cross-country season.
This year's team is going to have a similar look to last year's team due to the fact that they lost only one scoring senior, Conrad Haber, to graduation. This year's team will be even stronger than last year's squad. The Minutemen have a total attack this season with a powerful top two in Bryan Skelly and Rob Hewitt. Behind the two runners lies a huge group of runners that could lead any other team to a win. They are Mark Weems, TJ Bruzek, Andy Marocco, Kevin Sherry, Adam Driscoll, Dan Nardiello, and George Gavras. All of these runners are very talented. The Minutemen's front five looks to be ever changing due to the level of talent in the 3-5 men spots.

Cross Country Preview: Tuesday, August 25, 1998
By Steve Shaklee The Cherokee Cross-Country team is coming off of the best year in the history of the program. Last year, the team won the Burlington County Championship, the Olympic Conference Championship, the South Jersey Group 4 Championship and the State Group 4 Championship (first in school history). The Chiefs went on to place 3rd in the State Meet of Champions and earned the #1 ranking in South Jersey and 3rd in the State.
The loss of Senior co-captains, Matt Urbanovich and Jeff Storch (an All-South Jersey Track Selection) will hurt, but the team has a good group of 5 returning varsity competitors. Last year's team leader, Ben Werbos, is back and looks to be one of the top runners in the State.

High School Soccer: Tuesday, August 18, 1998
By Vince Nestore The boys from Delsea High School's 1997 Soccer squad have graduated to College Soccer:
Bill Epley is now at Division I, Bucknell in the Ivy League and hasn't missed a beat. Bill was second in total points this past fall. Bill's ability to perform at the next level has a lot to do with his incredible work ethic. This performance as a freshman nearly earned him Freshman of the Year in the Ivy League. He placed second to the player from Navy. Expect Bucknell in the next few years to make a run at the Ivy League crown. Bill has always been a winner and I expect it to be no different at Bucknell.

Summer Field Hockey: Friday, August 14, 1998
By Gary Steiner
A field hockey clinic for girls ages 8 to 13 was held this week at Voorhees Middle School as part of the Voorhees CER Summer Program. The clinic was hosted by Ellen Regn, coach of the freshman field hockey team at Cherokee High School. Coach Regn, originally from Gibbsboro, played field hockey for her alma mater Eastern High School, and in college at the University of Iowa. "I enjoy working with the young kids here at the school," she said. "I wanted to give back to the [Voorhees] community, since that's where I grew up."
