Do you remember the great voice of the Philadelphia Flyers (Gene Hart) saying "Parent makes the save...Ladies and Gentleman the Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup, the Flyers have won the Stanley Cup, the Flyers have won the Stanley Cup"? Well, I do, and the players of the Washington Township Hockey Team were greeted at practice by one of the NHL's greatest goaltenders of all time, a member of the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame (1984), the Flyers Hall of Fame (1988), and winner of the 1974 and 1975 Conn Smythe (the MVP of the Playoffs and first in NHL history to repeat) and Vezina trophy... His name is "Bernie" Bernard Marcel Parent.....

High School Ice Hockey:
By Rick Murro For the second time in two years the Washington Township Ice Hockey Club entered teams in the highly competitive Iceline Holiday Tournament. The JVB team posted a win against Conestoga and a loss to West Chester East and Great Valley, finishing just short of a quarter final slot. Not bad considering it was a JVA tournament. Over the course of the 3 games, forward Scott Singer led the way with a goal and two assists . JVB's other goal scorers were Mike Murro, Joe Gabrielli and Jim Procopio. Defensemen Dan Fratantoro and Eric Marano each had a goal and an assist over the length of the tournament.
For some of the JVB members, it was their first experience in a road tournament playing against consistent quality competition. They made the club proud.

High School Wrestling: Saturday, December 20, 1997
By Art Redd With the new wrestling season under way, getting a victory on opening day would surely be a good start. After all the hard work training and preparation for these wrestlers, it was their chance to go into the 1998 wrestling season with a opponent instead of a teammate.
Edgewood hosted St. Joseph in a non-league match and gave the home crowd alot to cheer for with a 42-26 victory. This was a good start for Coach Jim Ingles and his Eagles whose team finished with a 14-5 overall record last year.
