The time has come when 73 of South Jersey's young, athletic, boys and girls from ages 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 met and competed at the United States Tennis Association Middle States Section of the Moorestown Junior Open. The Open is now currently being held at the Moorestown High School on Bridgeboro Road in Moorestown, NJ. Directing this tournament are Cynthia and Bill Allen, along with her assistant and son, Gabrielle. They have been doing their best supervising, coordinating, and preparing for this event that runs for a whole week from June 24th-28th of this year.
The general schedule for the week starts at 9:00am and depending on the matches may last until the late afternoon. A typical match day will start at intervals from 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:00pm, 1:30pm, and 3:00pm. So far this week, there have been very few rain delays, but pretty hot, blistering days for the players, parents, friends, and other onlookers who were watching the matches.
It may have been hot, but the players have managed pretty well under the sun. Already, on the 2nd day, the girls' 10 year-old-player matches have come to the Finals at 9:00am. Medford New Jersey's Alysia Adams started the girls' first win by defeating Emma Allen (6-4,6-0) and Ry Anne Baldwin (6-2, 6-1) through a round robin match. With one final down, stay tuned for many more exciting matches to come.
