By Gary Steiner Top seeded Haddon Township lost this best of three series opener with Pennsauken, 6-3. They would have to win one on the road to send this SJGSA Junior American Division championship back to Crystal Lake Avenue. Alisha Davy score first for Haddon Twp. when she came home from third on a sacrifice by Lindsay Gilligan. Pennsauken immediately responded with two runs, first when Randi Beatrice hit a single and was driven home with a double by Annie Bilinsky. Then she came home on a single by Krystal Wilhelm to put Pennsauken up 2-1. Haddon Twp. tied it in the second when Felina Sanchetti walked, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice by Caitlin McComb, and then came home on a sacrifice by Kelly McConaghy. In the third inning, Haddon Twp. pulled ahead when Gilligan sacrificed to send Melissa Williams home from third, then Traci Golub sacrified to allow Davy to score. Pennsauken pulled back to within one when Christina Tofani scored on a bases loaded walk by Vanna Wortham. They then tied it again in the fourth when Ashley Keich scored on an RBI single from Bilinsky. Haddon Twp. pulled away in the fifth by scoring two, first Aileen Fallon singled and eventually was driven home by a single from Davy, who then managed to come home on an error after stealing third. Two more insurance runs were added in the sixth when Felina Sanchetti belted a two run homer following a triple by Golub. Pitcher Aileen Fallon held Pennsauken scoreless through the last three innings to seal the 8-4 win. The win sends this series back to Haddon Twp. Game three will be played on Sunday at 5 PM.
