South Jersey Softball: Thursday, May 27, 1999
By Bob Beatrice In a SJGSL Junior American Division game on Thursday night, Pennsauken traveled to Berlin Twp. Pennsauken fell behind early 4-1, behind the good pitching of Berlin Twp. starter Lauren Thumm. But Pennsauken scored 5 in the second on back-to-back 2-run singles by Krystal Wilhelm and Annie Bilinsky, and never looked back on their way to a 12-6 victory. Vanna Wortham was 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and played an outstanding 1st base. Kristen Green was 3 for 4, scored 3 runs and stole 4 bases. Eileen Gottshalk pitched a complete game for her 3rd win of the season. After allowing 4 runs on 5 hits in the first, she shut down Berlin Twp. on 3 hits the rest of the night. She finished with 7 strikeouts. Pennsauken is now 6-1. Their next game is at home against Runnemede on Thursday, June 3.
