By Bob Stewart The Berlin Borough Blue Marlins defeated the Berlin Township Red Raiders in the championship game held under the lights at the Berlin Borough Sports Complex. Before the game started, they had to have a coin toss to see which team would be the home team. Berlin Township's Coach Dott called tails and won the toss. Even though the game was at Berlin Borough, it was the team from Berlin Township that was the home team. In the first, the Berlin Borough Blue Marlins scored one run off of starting pitcher Kim. In the bottom of the inning, the Berlin Township Red Raiders tied the game up at one all. The top of the second was the big inning for the Blue Marlins. They scored the 5 run limit and never looked back. The Blue Marlins team and pitcher sent the Red Raiders down 1-2-3 the next three innings. The Blue Marlins defense stopped and caught everything the Red Raiders hit. Some of the fans were saying, "The girls are hitting the ball too good." The Red Raiders did make a comeback, but could only score one more run and the Blue Marlins played Great Defense. The game ended with the score Blue Marlins 9 - Red Raiders 2. What a great year for softball! After the game, all players were happy that they had a great season. You couldn't tell who won, which is the way it should be.... Players HAVING FUN. Congratulations to the 2000 Champion Berlin Borough Blue Marlins softball team and the Berlin Township Red Raiders. Photos by Boog Williams
