![]() Szul's/Stonhard Wins Medford League Men's Softball Championship Wednesday, August 15, 2001

When a softball team can come up with key hits, that team will usually win many games. Szul's/Stonhard not only came through with some big hits throughout the season, they also captured the Lenape Men's Softball League regular season Cherokee Division title with a league's best 23-4 record. The hits kept coming in the playoffs with an impressive 7-0 run through the brackets to claim the 2001 League Championship. |
South Jersey Softball: Red Thunder 16U Win Berkeley ASA Tournament Sunday, August 5, 2001

The Red Thunder 16U team ended it summer season by winning the 9th Annual Berkeley "B" Fastpitch Softball Tournament. This two day tournament was highlighted with the team from Pennsauken, NJ winning 4 games in a row to win the Championship title. |
High School Softball: Cumberland Ends Edgewoods Run At Group 3 Championship Friday, June 1, 2001

The seventh seeded Edgewood Eagles entered the South Jersey Group 3 softball playoffs with an uphill battle. Knowing they needed to win two tough games, the Lady Eagles would climb that hill and reach the finals against the number one seeded Cumberland Colts. Both teams traveled to Eastern High School in search of the Group 3 championship, but Cumberland scored three runs in the bottom to the third inning to pull away and defeat Edgewood 6-3. The Lady Colts now will advance to the state semifinals against Middletown South on Tuesday at Middlesex County College. |

Tiffany Frick had a lot of confidence stepping onto the pitching mound for Pennsauken during a South Jersey Group 4 softball game at Highland High School. Not only was her team riding a five game winning streak going into this first round playoff game, but also privileged to see her team score two important runs in the top of the first inning. Pennsauken, behind their great defensive plays, would hold off a seventh inning rally to defeat the Lady Tartans 3-1 and advance to the semi-finals against Millville. |

"There's no crying in softball," may be a very commonly used phrase among ball players, but for Edgewood's girls softball team, this statement needs some adjusting. This is the last year Edgewood will ever have a softball team, so the girls this year are working hard to go out on top! This fourteen - player team began practicing for their season early March led by four captains; Sr. Lindsay Creaney, Sr. Dianna Henhaffer, Sr. Kristin Wolf, and Jr. Alexis Switenko. |
