Philadelphia KiXX Executive Vice President/General Manager Greg Bibb announced today the team has agreed to terms with midfielder David DiPlacido for the remainder of the 2003-04 campaign. As per club policy, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The club acquired the rights to the Newmarket, Ontario native in the annual A-League draft conducted by the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) on September 10, 2003.
“David is an established A-League veteran who possesses the ability to play either the midfield or second forward position,” Bibb stated. “David trained with us in preseason and we have been working diligently since early October to come to terms on a contract and make him a member of the KiXX organization. His six years of professional experience and high work rate will help us address our needs as we continue to deal with a rash of recent injuries while making a push for our eighth consecutive playoff appearance.”
DiPlacido, a 5’9”, 165 pound midfielder has competed in the outdoor A-League with the Toronto Lynx for the past six seasons. He currently ranks among the franchise’s all-time top leaders in games played (141), minutes played (8489), shots (70) and fouls (151). The 26-year old midfielder was awarded the Lynx Public Relations Appreciation Award for his rookie season in 1998, the Lynx Fan Favorite Award in 2001 and an A-League Team of the Week selection in 2000 and 2002. DiPlacido was also featured on both the U-16 and the U-17 Canadian National Teams.
