The Philadelphia KiXX will be giving away 5,000 Peter Pappas Bobble Head Dolls to kids 14 and under on Saturday, January 26 when the club returns home from a four-game road trip to face the first-place Milwaukee Wave at the First Union Spectrum at 7:05 p.m.
The Bobble Head Doll will be the first-ever in KiXX history and only second in MISL history. On Saturday, January 12 the Cleveland Crunch gave away 2,500 Hector Marinaro Bobble Head Dolls and received their largest walk-up crowd in five years.
Pappas joins an elite group of Philadelphia athletes to have one of these collectors items created in his honor. Among others, Pappas joins a fraternity that includes Sixers guard Allen Iverson, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb and Phillies manager Larry Bowa. Without a doubt, anyone who has the ability to collect all of the "Philadelphia Bobble Head Dolls" will own a piece of sports memorabilia history.
Pappas is in his sixth season with the KiXX and is one of the most recognizable soccer figures in the Delaware Valley as well as throughout the entire indoor soccer community. He is a graduate of Philadelphia University (formerly the Philadelphia College of Textile and Sciences) and has played in over 200 games with the KiXX, ranking him second on the club's all-time list.
Pappas is a four-time league All-Star selection and is well on his way to a fifth appearance. He currently ranks second in the MISL with 11 wins and a 10.47 points-against average, and was the co-winner of the 2000-01 NPSL Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
