The Philadelphia Charge learned Sunday who their opponent will be in Saturday's WUSA semifinal contest at Villanova Stadium at 1:30 p.m. -- Mia Hamm and the Washington Freedom. The Charge learned their fate after the Carolina Courage played to a 1-1 tie against the San Diego Spirit on Sunday night to capture the WUSA regular-season championship.
Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased by calling the Charge ticket office at 215-467-GOAL or your local Ticketmaster outlet.
The Charge (11-4-6, 39 pts) finished the regular season in second place, one point behind the Courage, who went from worst last season to first this year. Philadelphia did sweep the season series from the Courage, but will have to battle the Freedom, before getting a possible shot at Founders Cup II on Saturday, August 24.
Philadelphia went 1-0-2 against the Freedom this season, going 1-0-1 at Villanova Stadium. The Charge played against the Freedom only once with Hamm in the lineup, as she missed both contests at Villanova Stadium with an injury. She will be available for Saturday's game and is expected to be at full strength.
