This past Saturday, the Berlin Township Council dedicated three newly sodded soccer fields on Edgewood Avenue. The fields are part of the Green Acres funding that the Township's received this past year. The three fields are all in great shape with thick sod and irrigation systems. The fields are located off of Route 73 at Edgewood Avenue in Berlin Township (about 1 mile south of the Berlin Circle). The dedicated name of the fields is the Edgewood Avenue Soccer Complex. The Complex will have a snack bar, storage, and bathrooms. As an additional part of the project, the township will also be putting in baseball and softball fields at the Luke Avenue Complex.
Saturday also marked the opening day for Peewee soccer in the Township. At 10 am, the little players (ages 5 through 7) started playing the first of two games scheduled for the morning. The players had fun running around despite the hot, humid sun. They had fun passing the ball and trying to score. The games were fun for all the fans (mostly parents and family) in attendance.
