The Berlin Township Hurricanes traveled to Millville to play the Diamonds this past Saturday in a South Jersey Girls Soccer U-9 Division 5 game. It was very hot and muggy as the players ran up and down the pitch. Some of the parents were joking to the coaches about providing the players with pickle juice. Both teams moved the ball well up and down. The Hurricanes got the first break of the game, as M. Foster scored on some hard work from A. Romeo and B. Gadzia. The Diamonds came back and scored a goal, with a beautiful shot by A. Bruno. The half ended with the score 1-1.
The second half saw the Diamonds score two goals to take a 3-1 lead. The Hurricanes didn't give up as M. Foster scored her second goal of the game, with a pass from M. Williams. Both teams had some great players on defense. The Diamonds were lead by M. Tozer and K. Sergiacomi. The Hurricanes were lead by T. Beaver and M. Williams. For the Hurricanes, this was the first time for each of the players to travel outside of their town to play. Both coaches were proud of the way their teams played.
