The Berlin Township Hurricanes played the undefeated Riverside Rams in a U-10 girls soccer match. The Hurricanes came out flying. M. Sparks scored the first goal of the game. This was the first goal for the Hurricanes this year. She dribbled up the left side of the field and shot from just inside the 14-yard mark. The players and fans were finally able to celebrate. M. Williams scored the second goal of the game; she also dribbled up the left side and shot from almost the same spot as M. Sparks. Both goals were scored in the first 15 minutes of the first half.
The Rams scored the next goal, at the 20-minute mark. Both goalies came up with great saves in the game. The Rams goalie was able to punt the ball over the mid-line. In the 29-minute mark, M. Williams scored her second goal with a move to her right at the top of the "D" and shot back to her left into the open corner. The half ended with the score Berlin Township 3 - Riverside Rams 1.
In the second half the Rams scored to make it 3-2 and a close game. One of the Hurricanes asked, "What is the score and are we winning?" The Hurricanes coach replied, "I don't know the score, but are you having fun?" She said yes. The Rams coach yelled out, "good answer". M. Sparks scored her second goal of the game and it was the winning goal. She ran to open space on a throw-in, took the ball in, and shot from the right side. Riverside did score another goal, but could not get the equalizer. The defense for the Hurricanes (T. Beaver, M. Sparks, M. Williams, and K. Ford) played a great game in stopping one of the top players in the league. The game ended 4-3 for Berlin Township's first win of the year.
