Event Spotlight: Sixth Annual Bill Kile's Memorial Run To Be Held July 27th Friday, June 21, 2002 By Charlie Barker South Jersy Sports Online once again would like to bring to our readers' attention a race which honors the memory of a popular educator and runner from South Jersey - the Sixth Annual Bill Kile's Memorial Run. This TAC-certified four-mile race and one-mile fun run/walk will be held Saturday, July 27th at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, NJ. The fun run starts at 8:30 AM with the four-miler to begin at 9 AM. Proceeds from the event benefit The William H. Kile, Jr. Humanitarian Scholarship Fund at Pennsauken High School. Last year scholarships from the fund were awarded to four Pennsauken High School students as well as to two Howard Phifer Middle School graduates. The 2001 run raised $1,000 for the scholarship fund, which is the largest memorial fund at Pennsauken. In five years the race has raised $9,500. Bill Kile was a well-known educator and runner who had a distinguished career with several Camden County schools before dying from cancer in 1996. His last position was at Pennsauken High School where he was supervisor of the English and Foreign Languages Department. South Jersy Sports Online invites all of our local readers to come out and support this worthy cause. See the application form for all the details. Hope to see you there!
