Lacrosse Spotlight: Eliuk Earns National Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week Honors Wednesday, February 9, 2005 By Jennifer Stefani Philadelphia Wings goaltender Dallas Eliuk was named the NLL's Defensive Player of the Week for his 42 saves against the San Jose Stealth on February 5. This is the second time this season that Eliuk has received this honor, the first coming for his 55 save performance in the Wings' season opener against the Arizona Sting on January 7. "Dallas continually proves why he's considered the greatest goaltender to ever play this sport," said Wings Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "He's been a pivotal factor in both of our wins this season and is very deserving of this award." Eliuk guided the Wings to a 14-13 win over the Stealth at the Wachovia Center last Friday. He currently has the third best save percentage in the league (79.9%) and has made 145 saves in three games played. The Philadelphia Wings meet the Rochester Knighthawks in their next game on Saturday, February 12 at 7:35 p.m. The Wings return to the Wachovia Center for their next home game on Friday, February 18 vs. Rochester at 8 p.m. |
