JERSEYS WILL BE AUCTIONED OFF AFTER THE GAME FOR WINGS CHARITIES

The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League don special Irish green uniforms when they host the New York Saints on St. Patrick's Day (Saturday, March 17) at the First Union Center at 8 p.m. After the game, the Wings will auction off these jerseys benefiting Wings charities.

The jerseys show off the Wings Irish spirit by featuring a Kelly green background and Shamrocks along the base; the distinctive Wings "W" is the focal point on the front of the jersey. A limited number of jerseys will be available for auction, including those for fan favorites Kevin Finneran, Jake Bergey, Dallas Eliuk, and Tom Marechek.

"Everything just seemed to fall into place with this idea: we're playing the Saints on Saint Patrick's Day. You couldn't have a better way to celebrate the holiday, or to help raise some money for the local charities," said Wings General Manager Jim Rogers.

The St. Patrick's Day excitement won't stop with the jersey auction. Prior to the game, a leprechaun, named Patty O'Furniture, will be taking the opening face off against Wings Captain Dave Stilley. Families are encouraged to come down to the game and take advantage of our Family Fun Pack: four tickets, four hot dog and four sodas for only $66.

The Wings (6-3), tied for third-place along with Buffalo and Rochester, are hosting the seventh-place Rock (7-3). The Wings are fighting for home field advantage during the playoffs. The Wings beat New York earlier this season in a close 13-12 game in Nassau Coliseum on February 10.

The Wings are led by Jake Bergey with 64 points (29G, 35A); followed by Tom Marechek with 53 points (35G, 18A), Mark Millon with 40 points (14G, 26A) and Kevin Finneran with 38 points (13G, 25A).

The Saints are led this season by second-year goalie Gord Nash; top scorers for New York include Roy Colsey with 57 points (39G, 18A), Mark Frye with 30 points (14G, 16A) and Jason Wulder with 27 points (12G, 15A).

Bids will be taken for each jersey throughout the game on the First Union Center concourse. After the game, the players whose jerseys will be auctioned off will go to Victors Club to assist in the final bidding. The player will then autograph the jersey and pose for a photograph with the lucky winner.

This is the first such auction in franchise history for the Wings. All proceeds from this event will help fund the charities with which the Wings are periodically involved.

Individual tickets for the Philadelphia Wings are $25, $21 and $16 and available at the First Union Center box office. Wings group tickets to all remaining games are available by calling (215) 389-WINGS.
